I quickly looked through the user guide and manual and could not locate that particular feature. The files themselves are dated on your memory card or on the camera, but I don't think this camera does what you are talking about.

How do you set the cannn 500d to date stamp pictures that you view

If you want to see the date /time info while viewing the pictures on the camera, you can change the display settings, press the DISP button, till you see a smaller picture and the date and time on the bottom of the screen.
If you want the date and time printed on a picture, you should use the pict bridge option from the camera and in the setup you should chose the setting for that. See page 165 and following from the manual.
But the simple timestamps of the yellow or orange stamps like in the older digital cameras, won't work.
Because the camera keeps a all information stored in the EXEF part of the picture, it won't destroy the jpeg it produces. If you really want the date and time imprinted, you should use a program on the computer, to use the date and or time info and brand it in the picture, before saving it.
Be aware all pictures do have the date and time info in them and most viewers on the computer (whatever OS) will show the info when asked, anyway.

How do i just set camera to put date on pictures

On page 72 of the manual is printed how to imbed date and time in the image data.
If the date and time are shown on the screen, or when you review the picture on a computer, I can't find.
Digital cameras use Meta Data, exif data to keep the important information in the picture. This can be viewed with the appropriate software. Not many cameras put the data visible in the picture that was shot.

How to view dates while printing for Lumix DMC - TZ3

The camera will not show the date while taking pictures. The camera can stamp the date onto the photo, but the image size will be reduced. See page 66 of the manual: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMCTZ2.PDF.

However the date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Don't see time/date stamp on my pictures when viewed on computer or printing

Your camera won't deface your photos by scribbling a string of numbers across them. The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

I have a Panasonic DMC-FX550 Lumix camera. The date and time show on the camera when i play the pictures, but when i connect the camera to the laptop and view them i cannot see the date and time.I have gone...

The camera screen is displaying the "metadata" for each picture as you view them. Your computer screen does not. However, when you download your pics to the computer, the metadata goes with them. If you hover your pointer over each file, the info will appear. You can right-click and get even more info. Some photo editing programs will even give you every detail including the lens opening and shutter speed, the make of camera that took the pic, etc.

If got an sanyo xacti cg20, and when i load my photo's to my pc it dont show the date stamp on the poto's.just want to know how can i get the date stamp to be on the poto

Hello,
according to the manual for your product
https://wikis.utexas.edu/download/attachments/15045757/Sanyo_VPC-CG20_manual.pdf
you should setup the correct date and time as shown on page 20.
The date and time is recorded into the picture file, but it is not shown onto the picture itself (like in old analog film cameras). You can view the date and time of a particular photo on a computer by right clicking the file icon and choosing 'properties' and then the 'details' tab (I'm assuming you have a microsoft windows operating system). If you want the date to be onto the actual image itself (for printing purposes, I suppose) you have to type it yourself with an image editor.
Let me know if you need further assistance, I hope this helped you, Bye

Not getting date on downloaded pictures

The date and time (and a lot of other information) is always stored with the picture file in what's called the EXIF data. By default this is not shown on top of the image since neither the camera nor any photo viewing program knows which portion of your photograph is unimportant and can be obscured by this data.

Any photo editing program should be able to show you this data, probably in a separate window. Most photo printing software likewise can print this data, either on top of the picture or in the margins or on the back. Please refer to the documentation for whatever program(s) you're using.

Please help me, i have a fuji finepix a350 camera and i won my camera to show the date inside the picture, i tryed all the options but it shows the date for 2-3 seconds on the scren and then does not shows...

You can't get date on the pictures, when viewing them on the screen og on the computer. You can print pictures with date printed on them. Press Menu/OK while viewing the picture on the camera. Select DPOF, select With date. You need to do this with every single picture you want date on. It also requires your printer to be DPOF compatible.
