Since a recent microsoft update, I have receiving a message as follows, "Messenger failure, cannot open messenger". Microsoft claims that this is a hardware compatibility problem.

It appears that the update that causes this is KB946648

Hey,

You can uninstall the update to get rid of the error message, messenger service failure? you could start -> run -> services.msc find messenger from the list, right click restart or start if its turned off.

Thanks,
Ekse

My yahoo messenger not displaying messages

If you are not able to see the messages then please follow the below steps and ix your problem

1 . Go to messenger
2 . Click preferences and then click on messages
3 . And just click the "show messages window"

This will display the messages to you.

If this does not fix your problem and you are using Windows XP then you can update your Windows Script. The newest version is 5.7. Exit all browser windows and chat programs including Yahoo Messenger before installing. Here is link from Microsoft to update that:
http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/detai...
Or you can do an internet search for Windows Script 5.7 and choose the Microsoft link.

Thanks for using fixya.
Have a great day.

No yahoo.massenger

The first step to resolve Messenger crashes on Windows XP is to uninstall runtime components:
  1. On your keyboard, hold the <Windows> key and press the <R> key. This opens the "Run" command.
  2. Type in "appwiz.cpl" and click "OK." This opens "Add or Remove Programs."
  3. Select each of the following items and click the "Remove" button. There may be multiple installed versions, so be sure to remove all of them.
  • Java
  • Microsoft .NET Framework
  • Microsoft Visual C++
  1. When uninstall is complete, please restart your computer.
  2. Next, download and install the following software updates to optimize your computer's compatibility with Yahoo! Messenger
  1. After installing these updates, restart your computer again, and then run Yahoo! Messenger.

My yahoo messenger won't show any messages on the IM window. I can see what i am typing but not when i've sent it already. I can't also see the messages sent for me. I've already reinstall different...

CAN'T SEE TEXT IN INSTANT MESSAGES?
This is an issue that is cropping up more and more. If just a new problem try exitingYahoo Messenger and then relaunching it. Even try rebooting your computer. If both those fail to solve your problem then try the suggestions below.

1) The first thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger so things that go wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. Here is the yahoo help page about that:http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...

2) In the Start Menu click on Run. Type, without the quotes, "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and then click OK. Next, repeat the process but this time type in the Run box "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and click OK. Please note, if you are using Windows Vista temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.

3) If the above does not fix your problem and you are using Windows XP, you can update your Windows Script to version 5.7. In my experience helping others, this is the step that has helped the most people. Exit all browser windows and chat programs including Yahoo Messenger before installing. Here is link from Microsoft to update that:
http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/detai...
Or you can do an internet search for Windows Script 5.7 and choose the Microsoft link.

This version of Window Script is already included with Vista so you would not use that link. There is also a Windows Script 5.7 released for Windows 2000 and you can find that here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

Exit Messenger completely (this means right clicking the Messenger tray icon and choosing Exit).

Open your registry editor (Start > Run > regedit.exe) and navigate to: for Messenger 8.0: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger for Messenger 8.1: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\WindowsLive\CommunicationsClient

Once there, you must remove the following subkeys: for Messenger 8.0: Policies for Messenger 8.1: Shared
Close your registry editor and restart Messenger.Make sure you don't delete or modify anything else. Wrong alterations can cause serious problems for Windows.

For those who are not comfortable editing the registry, I've made a registry file which will do these alterations for you. Simply download the file, save it and run it:

or use reginout cleaner

Messanger Failure while loading Media Center Setup Wizard

SP3 issue. you can uninstall SP3 and then hide it so that you will continue to receive other updates. Every 2 weeks you should unhide it and try another install. If problem persists you may need to reinstall OS from disk. Follow directions closely so that you won't loose any files.

Media center unable to open messenger

The problem can not and will not be solved by a reinstall of the operating system or a reinstall of messenger. The issue comes from a security update from Microsoft. Go to this link to a blog written by a member of the microsoft Media Center Security Team, it has a couple of easy solutions to the problem. Click on the Registry fix downloads for whatever option you want to use. The fix, in a nutshell, is to either ban the security update from media center OR to stop messenger from being used in media center. Personally, I have no need for messenger let alone using it in media center. Good luck!
