Hey,

The drivers for sound are not installed, HP & Compaq drivers are available at http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html note that HP owns compaq so drivers are available for both at the same website.

Thanks,
Ekse

You would need to look at the BIOS manufacturers site for the beep code and it's meaning. You can also pull all the hardware out, memory HDD, CD/DVD and boot if you no longer get the error, power down and add one component back and boot. Repeat until you get the beep code again and you will know what the problem part is.

Audio Driver Problem

i guess some of your device drivers were corrupted. what I can recommend you is that you reinstall your windows XP with an "R" (stands for repair) option (which will rebuild your OS without losing any of your files and settings).

Ii have a message ' no active mixer device'

If a reboot does not fix this error, you may have faulty, incomplete driver information, windows is known for this at times.

uninstall your sound drivers from the hardware console, then reboot the PC and re-install them.

to get to the hardware console:

XP
right-click on " my computer " > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > sound, video and game controllers

Vista / Windows 7
start > right-click on " my computer " > Properties > " Device manager > sound, video and game controllers
