The only way to fix the problem is to hook your TV to a standard cable hookup and go through the "auto memo" scan process. The auto scan progarm then automatically sets itself to the CATV mode, rather than the standard mode, so channels above 13 can be received after disconnecting and reconnecting to a DirectTV, satellite antenna.

You may be able the settings of your directTV box to stop frustrating you. If you help me identify the model you are using, I can research the proper menu choices you will need to choose to select the correct features. There are many different directTV set-top boxes available.

My own home theater setup did the same thing, and my solution was to use component cables from the PVR instead of HDMI cables. It is too bad your blu-ray doesn't allow for this configuration.

My work-around until I realized that using different interconnects fixed the problem, was to turn the TV off and then on again whenever switching from HD to non-HD sources. This fixed my problem, maybe it will fix yours.

I hope that helps.

I have Sony PictureTel TV but I cant watch more than 13 programs. Remote controler is original and I still cant go up to 13 chanels... :-(

If you have the Sony remote go into the customer menu and select either setup or the part that determines if you have the set in the AIR or CABLE band.

In the air band the set is only going to get the first 2-13 channels.

Once you find it use the remote to select cable or CATV--(same thing).

Once it shows you are in the CATV mode(I presume you have cable etc) if you still do not get any channels above 13 look for the AUTOPROGRAM FEATURE and engage it with the remote==the set will scan thru and pick up all the available channels.

I can't get channels bwyond 13 and remote is gone so I can't reprogram for other channels. Can this be done withour the remote?

hopefully you have a menu button on your TV, if so you should be able to access auto program (you might have to search to find the auto search)but before you auto program make sure you set your TV to a cable setting then auto program. If you do not have a menu button on the TV, you could also try buying a universal remote. If you don't want to do that you could always use a VCR, just set your TV on channel 3 and do a auto program on the VCR ,using the VCR remote you should be able to tune in the channels your missing through the VCR.

Dont know how to get cable channels , i just get local channels.

Hello.

It sounds like you need to change a setting before running the auto or channel scan. On the same menu screen that has the option for running the channel scan, you should see a setting that has next to it the word "AIR" or "ANTENNA". If this isn't changed to "CABLE" or "CATV" then the TV will only scan for a limited number of channels because it assumes you have an antenna hooked up to it instead of a cable line. This is the same for all TVs. Anytime someone runs a channel scan on ANY TV and they only pick up a limited number of channels, they need to change the setting I've described. And remember, it will be on the same menu screen that you go to in order to run the channel scan.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

P.S. On some TVs, autoscan is called autoprogram.

Programming Channels

Your TV is likely set for "AIR" tuning rather than "CABLE" mode. In this case channels above 13 don't tune correctly. The tuning mode is adjusted through the setup menu (it's been too long since I've seen one of these to remember exactly how the menu looks). Once you set the tuning mode for cable, all the available channels should come in properly.

But you've said you have satellite, so you should have a satellite receiver connected to your TV, and you'd be changing channels there rather than on the TV. Your TV would be staying on channel 3 or 4 (if using the satellite antenna output connection), or on the A/V input you have the satellite connected to (if using the direct A/V outputs). Am I missing something about your system?

Can not get all my cable stations

I will asume that you are not getting above channel 13. In that case you need to go into your menu of the tv and find the auto program area to program in your cable channels. You will also need to put the tv in cable mode as well. It will be in that same section of the tv.
