Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

You either have a bad PTA relay or inverter board. Ohm out the windings on the compressor first to make sure the compressor is okay

Is the external overload connect to the nurture line can protect the compressor?
if your compressor is shorted to ground then you need a new compressor. if you need help finding what compressor part# you need let me know. The external overload is there to protect the compressor from overheating, but if it doesnt work there is no protection causing compressor to possibly short to ground.

My air compressor started making a funny noise from the motor, and it doesn't build up air as fast as it used to. what do you think happened?
the compressor itself has 2 reed valves in it.one works on suction pressure and the other from the pressure generated from the compression stroke of the comp motor.If the valves are weak, they may still work for awhile. The compressor for an air compressor is what is known as an open compressor or semi hermatic. Just means it can be worked on. Those valves are replaceable and much cheaper than a new compressor.

Seem like the compressor is not working very hot
Assuming this is the A/C compressor, right? The compressor will be hot to the touch, the question is whether or not it is engagining when turned on, Check to see if the compressor clutch iis working by having someone turn it on and off while listebibg an observing the compressor clutch. Low refrigerant would or should orevent compressor operation to protect the compressorthrough a safety switch. Good luck

hot wire the compressor to make sure if it is working or not. If all the fuses are working and the compressor is not running then your compressor is defective.

Rotate the dial on the defrost thermostat, a big click is when it goes into defrost, a little more and it should turn the compressor back on. By overload protector, do you mean the one under the compressor cover?

Compressor not working
Why did you change the mother board? Was the compressor working before the change? If it was, then you need to check the new board and see if there were any wires that need to be cut when it was installed. If it wasn't running before the board change then you might try the overload on the compressor first. Also it should be checked with a compressor checker to determine if the comp is at fault or not

Compressor will not work
  • it may be the compressor, check the temperature of the compressor when it has been running for a while. if it is too hot to touch then it is going bad. the compressor should only get warm not hot.
  • the start switch will also kick out if the compressor is drawing too much amps (even if cold) witch would also be a sign of a bad compressor.
  • another thing that could cause this problem is if the coils under the machine are dirty or the airflow is blocked. this will cause the heat to build up in the compressor and kick the start switch off.
  • compressors don't last as long as they used to.
