Question about GE Zoneline AZ38H12DAD Split System Air Conditioner

Oil Leak My 2-month-old, self-installed GE 2-ton mini-split unit is quiet and blows super cool air, but I find a small drop of yellowish oil on the lower left side every morning. Is that compressor oil? How is it getting into condenser unit? Is it a loose copper fitting? How can I fix it?

This would indicate a leak somewhere in the condenser sheet coil. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you should call a service tech in to fix this problem.

Brand New 2 weeks old 4 ton Trane compressor leaks a lot of water onto pad

If the unit is running in cold weather than there is ice building up on the coils located outside. This is normal in that the unit is running in heat pump mode heating inside and cooling outside, After the unit detects the ice build up it briefly reverses the cycle heating the outside coils melting(defrosting) the ice which you observe as water on the pad.

The video gives you an example of the defrost cycle!

Mini Split GE model AE1CD20DM. Not cooling. Why is the power light blinking green 6 times and stopping, repeating over and over?

This should be a "trouble code". In the owners manual or installation manual you should find a list of trouble codes that help us determine what may be the lead malfunction.

Not cooling good and has an odd smell.... We've repaired a leak in freon in 2 places in the last 2 months!! ugh!!! I'm so frustrated with this thing.... it was cooling like a dream when we first installed...

Where were the leaks in the system. If they were in either the indoor or outdoor coils, I would replace the entire system. If they were in the refrigerant lines that connect the indoor and outdoor units, I would replace the line set only.

From my experience mini splits are a very quiet unit. You may need to check local code though, and consult your neighbor first. Better to be proactive over making an enemy.

When I cool the room it doesn't drop to the temperature I have it set to but a few degrees celcius higher. Is that normal? I honestly never checked on my old unit but this one doesn't seem to feel as cool.

there is suppose to be 15--20* temp. different on the air supply & return air temp.Over 20* and the coil or the filter is plugged up. Below 13*--anf the unit is not charged properly.

Oil trap for 2 ton split unit

Pipe size is okay, not that I know any better than the manufacturer, but I would recommend at least two and possibly even three oil traps in the vapor line on the way back up.

Appears to leak up in the wall unit

RE TIGHTEN THE FITTINGS WITH LEAK USING TO WRENCHES AND MONITOR THE LEAK. IF THE LEAK CONTINUES YOU NEED TO LET THE GAS OUT OF THE SYSTEM TO CHECK THE PIPE FLARE IF STILL OK. IF NOT YOU NEED TO RE FLARE THE PIPE AND CONNECT IT BACK AND TIGHTEN, LEAK TEST AND RECHARGE WITH REFRIGERANT.
