First,
to reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the
reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router near the DC Power Jack). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings would be restored to factory defaults.
Please
note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE
LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you
get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure
etc.
To secure
the connection follow the following steps: -
First
you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer)
by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is
usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (written at the back of router) and lookup for the options to do the
following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password password.)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)
Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings"
2.Under "Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply
Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.
Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the
details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
