Question about Audio Players & Recorders

AUDIO PLAY-BACK HEAD

I've got a Marantz stereo double cassette player SD415, apparently made in 1991. I'd like to change the play-back head but am finding it difficult to get the replacement part. The company says they don't stock it any longer. Could you advise where to find it, or at least to get the company part number to help the search?
I'd really appreciate any help!

Hi florez8a

It is unlikely that you may find spares for a deck that is 17 years old. This unit uses an auto reverse head assembly and they can be proprietary spares, hard to replace with anything but the original. You may strike it lucky get one from WES components in Sydney. They have one rotary R/P head, I think it looks like an ALPS design, and may fit your deck. Check it out and see. The other option is to see if you can get an entire mechanism. Where in the world are you and I shall check for the parts with a supplier in your part of the world. All this for a "FixYa" rating:) Cheers

Adjusting head on personal cassette players

there is too ways, depending on the stereo, this is for the standard type, with push puttons, there will wither be a little whole that you pop a tape in and press play and adjust the spring side up and down, but only a quarter turn either way,

or open door and pop tape directly in leaving the door open, press play and you will see the tiny screw to adjust, right side only

if its full logic or auto reverse i do not think its posible

How do i hook up my mp3 player to this car cd player

The only way to play an mp3 player through this head unit is through an adapter. You will need to go to Best Buy or some electronics store and buy a cd-to-cassette adapter. You just plug the adapter into the mp3 player's headphone jack and insert the cassette into the head unit. Let the cassette play and play your music through the mp3 player and boom, you have a mp3-capable head unit.

I have a TDK HD-01 head demagnetizer for cassette decks, but I have lost the instructions. Could you help?

Hi there.
First - Turn On The Tape Demagnatiser (should be a switch on it)
Second - Insert into cassette player
Third - Turn On cassette player
Fourth - TURN DOWN VOLUME ON AMPLIFIER TO MINIMUM (This is essential!)
Fifth - Press Play on cassette player
Sixth - After 10 seconds press stop on the cassette player
Seventh - Remove the cassette demagnetizer from the cassette player
Eighth - Turn off the demagnetizer and put back in it's usual storage place

AGAIN, MAKE SURE THE VOLUME IS TURN TO MINIUM WHEN USING THIS AS THE NOISES CAN DAMAGE SPEAKERS.

Have Aiwa NSX-V9090 Stereo with jammed cassette. I removed the cassette; however the system still thinks it's in there? When I power up the system it tries to play the tape the stops. I am not able to load...

Check with a small torch, to ensure that there is no tape broken arround the pinch roller or head, if there was no tape broken away, between the pinch roller and the cassette head there is a white cassette bar, this may have become bent.

Reorded tapes only play out one speaker

check your cables to the units channel that doesn't work, for breaks. Does the cassette player play back a pre-recorded tape okay? if it doesn't there might be a internal fault.
Check the wires to the tape head to see if one is off.

My Marantz CP430 only plays on the tight channel, also it invariably doesn't automatically stop at end of tape but clicks interminably.

I suspect the recording problem is that the wires have broken on the back of the recording head.  The heads move forward every time that a cassette is played and the wires have to bend a little.  A common fault on many cassette recorders is that these wires break with constant movement.  I have a machine with the same problem, but getting to the head wiring in a CP430 is far from easy. Cannot play my portable audio device with Sony cdx c500x

It will only accept audio from the bus in conections when a multi changer is connected and selected.

This is how I connect my mp3 player to my sony.

Swap multichanger audio outputs at the rear of the stereo for my mp3 player, press source to select multichanger.

Remember as I said, if there is not a control cable connected to your multichanger it wont wotk!
