Loud banging during kneading

After two years, my machine has developed a loud banging sound during kneading. Sometimes it happens once with each revolution of the paddle, sometimes less. The noise is loud enough so I've quit running the machine at night--even half a house away it will wake me up. Sounds like the gearing is slipping, causing a jump before connecting again. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for help with a bread machine; the expert I was referred to referred me in turn to another site for repair advice, but one only dealing with major appliances.

Yes, the answer was helpful, though not the one I was hoping for! Thank you.

The belt was loose, and it often slipped out of the notches during the kneading cycle and the result was a loud banging noise , you can try checking that belt if you can open the unit or just have it repair or replace...

Good luck.........

Most like ly that is the case a gear has ground down teeth and spins until it catches which creates the banging noise. unfortunately it would cost more to repair it than to replace it. most aplliance repair places might not even have the parts for it. so your best bet is just to get a new one. I'm sure this is not the answer you were looking for but it's the right one good luck. please rate this solution. thanks

Usually with products like this, one gear will be a plastic instead of metal which under too much stress will shear. Basically to narrow down the problem, you will need to open up the machine and find the part that is worn down considerably and then we can get you to the manufacturer or another retailer that can get you the replacement part

you will have to replace the kneading paddels for sure to solve this problem.as simple oiling may work temprory but for permanent solution replacing the kneading paddels is necessary.remaining everything is perfect in the bread maker.

for any thing else let me know.

    pls do rate the solution

Is the pan siting securly and clicked in? Is it like a knocking sound? If so the dough is too dry, so try adding a Tbs of water at a time and see if that helps.

I have a toastmaster Bread Box bread machine...I am making French bread...the banging noise was so loud I stopped it fearing the machine was broken...is it ? If not should I continue the kneading/baking...

Unless the sound is mechanical like metal on metal etc. what you may be hearing is the sound of the dough ball being knocked around and kneaded. Sometimes that gets pretty loud. While it is kneading go ahead and open the top and see if you think the dough ball is making the noise. If it seems to be coming from somwhere else then you may have a more serious problem. Is this a new noise or it this the first time you have used the machine?

Welbilt bread maker loud buzz

Probably not. You could always take it apart and look at the printed board to see if there is anything that looks like a short circuit on it, like a black smudge from an arc. Somebody handy with a solder gun might be able to fix that (that happened to my Maytag washer when there was a thunderstorm). If not that maybe the software would reset itself after you put it back together -- stranger things have happened. If nothing works, reviews for the Sunbeam 5891 1-2 lb loaf machine are very high, and it only costs around $60 (I'm probably going to buy that one next). If you dispose of your old machine, post the loaf pan, paddle and manual on ebay. People seem to lose the paddles all the time. Good luck.

Bread pan pops out during kneading, hard to remove after baking

I have Breadman Ultimate for over 12 years now. I make bread 2-3 times a week for the past 10 years. I found that the bread pan popping out only happens when the motor shaft and the kneading paddle are not tightly engaged. I find this problem in the following two scenarios: 1. The bread pan was not pushed down all the way as described by cassie_hobbs and tlcquiltnut. 2. Debris filled up the motor-shaft bowl underneath the bread pan to prevent a tight engagement of the motor shaft and the kneading paddle. These debris are generated during the kneading process; part of the ingredients is pushed out of the shallow horizontal pan and accumulated underneath. To avoid the problem, I have to periodically remove debris from the shaft bowl and make sure the pan pushed all the way down. To reduce the debris, I made a simple cover for the bread pan by cutting an old aluminum baking dish. I always remove the cover after the kneading cycle to prevent the rising dough from reaching the bottom of the cover. Hope this helps. Wendy
