I have colored specs showing vividly on a black background or black screen on my five year old 50" Samsung plasma TV. What is this caused buy, can it be repaired, is this going to reoccur in 4-5...

Sorry to say that usually indicates the panel is going bad. Repairs are usually pretty costly. I personally would look into another tv. The newer ones are really alot cheaper than they used to be. Hope this helps.

My plasma has a vertical line down the screen, what can i do about it?

If the line is permanently there, whatever the source then the defect is either in the plasma screen itself (here is nothing you can do to fix that apart replacing the screen - but that will cost you as much as a new tv) or in one of the buffer boards. The buffer boards are usually individually replaceable, but that you must find out for sure only by completely dismantling it. This is a very complicated job, better call a repairman to have a look.

30" samsung flat screen powers on but tv screen black. sound is good. Worth repairing?

It depends on what kind of t.v., plasma or LDC. and does the screen appear to light up or do nothing (if you turn off the lights, does it glow black like there is no signal or is there nothing at all?) If it is an LCD and the screen is bad then investing in a new one. A plasma might be worth fixing depending on how much a new one of comparable or better quality would cost. It doesnt sound like there is something wrong with the computer/board in it so that shouldnt need to be replaced.

Plasma tv screen goes black once you turn it on. Only sound

I have a panasonic TH-42PX60U plasma TV. When I watch TV programing I have no problems, or with the DVD input. But if I switch to another input, be it video game (PS2) or vcr the screen sometimes goes black and the red power lcd light next to the power switch flashes. Holding the power button in for a few seconds will shut down the tv. Then I can turn it back on and it may operate normally again for a undetermined period of time, before the screen goes black again. This never happened when new. The tv is about 1 year old. Any ideas on this problem? Thanks Ernie

Samsung plasma TV, half screen is blacked out

Well, as per my last posting, I thought I would share. The problem of the bottom half of my 42 inch Samsung Plasma blacked out - meant a trip to the local TV repair shop. I have to say, they were great. I took it in and they were able to fix it after replacing a part - had my TV back in about a week. Cost was approx. $300. This was well worth it, considering how much I had paid for this TV only a few years ago. I had the repair done last month and so far, it's been great. Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the part.

I have a philips 50pf7321d plasma tv and the screen suddenly split, half picture on each side of screen, and black bar inthe middle.

Black bar caused by a short IC on the ribbon of the plasma panel. Unfortunately it requires a new plasma panel. Cost of a new unit.
