Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 30 Flatbed Scanner

Vista and the toolbox don't seem to work together

I installed the toolbox when I upgraded to Vista, but the application just hangs. I downloaded the driver and the toolbox from the canon web site. As soon as I click on copy, the scanner makes a bit of noise (sounds like it is getting ready to go) and then the application hangs. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    I installed the Canoscan toolbox 4.1 on my new Compaq Presario Vista Home Premium machine and the vista driver from canon for my LIDE 30 scanner, but the scanner doesn't show up under settings and no scanner is found when I try to scan. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help!

    installed my old Canon LIDE30 flatbed scanner on a new Compaq Presario SR5610f desktop running Windows Vista Home Ultimate. It appears to install correctly (used the newest drivers from canon.com - lide20lide30n670un676un1240uvst7031a_xpen.exe). The problem is that no matter what application I use to access it, whether it's CanoScan Toolbox 4.1.3.6 or any other application that supports TWAIN drivers, all it ever does is make a few noises as if it's going to scan and then hang whatever application is trying to access it. It worked fine under Windows XP, and Canon says that it's supported under Windows Vista with the new drivers, but it sure won't work for me. I already uninstalled the driver, rebooted, and reinstalled the drivers many times with no improvement.

    Bought a new computer with Vista preinstalled and like the others in this section cannot get my Canoscan LiDE 30 to get beyond a couple of what I can only describe as "resetting" movements and then it hangs. . . this also applies to the scanner part of the HP Colour Laserjet CM1017 (no movement, just doesn't recognise the pc . . any help would be gratefully received . . regards Cocoscot

The Canon Flatbed LIDE 30 will not work under Vitsta. We're out of luck.

Lide 60 not working in mountain lion


Guide to installing Canon CanoScan LiDE 35, 50 and 60 on Mac OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion:


FIRST PART: DELETING OLD LiDE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE


  • If this is the first attempt to install the scanner, skip this part


  • Trash the following files/folders from these folders:


HD:/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources

delete the CanoScan CanoScan XXXX.ds file

(Make note of any other files that may be in this folder. If other files are present, move them to the desktop for now. Then place them back after successfully using the scanner.)


HD:/Library/Preferences

delete the 'CanoScan XXXX' folder


HD:/Users/Shared

delete the folders containing the name CanoScan, or starting with CNQL.


HD:/Applications

delete the CanoScan Toolbox Application


HD:/Users/YOUR-MAC-USERNAME/Library/Preferences

delete any items named "CanoScan Toolbox"


  • Restart your computer, then empty the trash


SECOND PART: MAKING YOUR SCANNER WORK


  • Make sure your scanner is well connected


  • Download the right driver depending on your Model. Also download the Scanner Software. Copy the filenames and search them via Google. Make sure you download the Canon files from an official Canon domain.


CanoScan LiDE 50 and LiDE 35 work both with the 35 driver:

lide35osx7721en.dmg


CanoScan LiDE 60 driver:

lide60osx11131en.dmg


VueScan Software:

http://www.hamrick.com/#download

VueScan 9.2 (or later) x32 for Mac OS X


Alternative to VueScan: CanoScan Toolbox. I prefer VueScan.

Try your luck with Version 4 or Version 5.

CanoScan Toolbox 4: cstbosx4934ej4.dmg

CanoScan Toolbox 5: cstbosx5014ej4.dmg


  • Open the downloaded driver file (lide35osx7721en.dmg or lide60osx11131en.dmg)


  • and Double-click the ScanGear file, install and restart when prompted


  • Open the downloaded VueScan file (vuex3292.dmg) and drag the VueScan application to the Mac Applications folder


  • Open the VueScan application. The scanner should be recognized automatically.


(Alternatively try and install CanoScan Toolbox 4 or 5)

I have a cnoscan Lide 30 flatbed scanner and have tried to load it on my new Acer computer with Vista and cannot get it to operate when I install the original Canoscan Lide 20/30 disk driver. Can you help...


You are correct, you will need to download 2 applications from the canon website in order to use your scanner.
you will need the drivers which are here

You will need to navigate to the downloads then select the model you have. The two programs are the LIDE Driver for windows then you will need to install the Toolbox software. you will require to reboot your computer between the installs so it's best to download both to your computer then install the LIDE and then the Toolbox.

I have canoscanlide 30 i canot install the toolbox to my pc windown vista whay can i do


two possibilities...

1. the toolbox software may need to be installed as administrator and in compatibility mode

2. it may not be installable if your pc is a 64 bit pc and your toolbox software is 32 bit... this is a common issue...

CanoScan N650U TWAIN problem


ok two possibilities...
1. try this quick faq
2. try downloading vuescan... it works but for it to work perfectly you need to register it... otherwise it shows dollar signs over everything...

Can't calibrate the scan before scanning


I had the same problem when upgrading to mac os x. I was trying to scan directly from Photoshop but got the calibration message. I tried the two solutions given at the Canon website but they didn't work. I ended up downloading the Toolbox application to scan directly from there but the same message appeared. After installing the Toolbox application I unistalled the driver (11250) and reinstalled it. I opened Photoshop and tried scanning and the calibration window appeared only this time it didn't stop to give me the "Flim Adapter" warning. I must point that the scanner lid was open when this happend but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it.

So apparently it works if you have the Toolbox installed prior to installing the driver. The driver, Toolbox application and unistall driver can be found at Canon's website. Hope this helps.

I was able to install the CanoScan Toolbox by doing the following: MacIntosh HD --> Library --> CFMSupport --> Get Info. Under 'Sharing & Permissions', I added my name & changed 'Read only' to 'Read & Write' .

Problem now: I can't install the LIDE 30 Scanner Driver. I clicked on the downloaded driver & a box opened. I clicked on ScanGear CS Installer, but that didn't work. I then clicked on 'Into Plug-In' --> ScanGear CS 7.0X --> Choose Application --> CanoScan Toolbox 4.1 --> Plug-Ins, but couldn't continue as the 'Open' tab was greyed out. What should I try? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Canon 4200f scanner wont work w/vista


use the latest Vista driver, which can be found here:
(english version)

UNPLUG THE SCANNER BEFORE INSTALLING
clean out the old installed drivers
Install the driver
plug the scanner in when asked to do so.
