Question about Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

WT-46809 will not stay on

The tv shuts itself down after 1-2 seconds. The diagnostic code is 2-2.
I opened up the pressboard back, and looked into the back of the TV, and took some pictures. It looks like the center board (high voltage?), has a darker color around the furthest part of it. Could this be caused by cooling fluid from one of the tubes? If so, should I write off this set, and purchase a new one.

I certainly will not buy a Mitsubishi, as this TV has had to be repaired before, and Mitsubishi has not been any help even when this TV was under warranty.

Good Day, dimen;
This looks great. Check this out;

SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubisi wt-46809 will not turn on. i plug it in and it blinks 3 times then nothing. no error code when i hold menu and input

keep in mind if you unplug set it clears the error buffer.

Try to turn set on and if power light comes on and goes off then do the self check; menu and input for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

UNPLUG TV ANDTHEN PLUG BACK IN---TURNON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT ANDGOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

Before you rate this information let me know what you find.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

I have a model # WT-46809 and in comes on and within 5 seconds shuts off error code repeats 2 pause 2 pause2 over and over what do u think it is

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com to get a repair kit with instructions.

When I turn on my tv it will shut off

Model number is WT-46809?

If set comes on for a moment and then goes off(green power light)

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS BOTH menu AND input at the same time and hold both buttons in for at least 5 seconds---then release both buttons.

Watch the power light---it should blink a two digit code---ERROR CODE---
The most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks-----set will repeat the error code about 10 times.

If you find this error code let me know the blinks and I will tell you what it means and may be able to tell you what is needed to correct it.

TV wont stay on

shutting down can be due to a blown fuse usually in the convergence section. the fuses are soldered in, with a voltmeter you can measure the fuses. if one is open then probably your convergence ICs are bad. about $250-$400 to have a field tech come to you and replace them. The other possiblity is a CRT (picture tube) fluid leak. this is more costly to fix, to check for a fluid leak pull the front lower panel and check for fluid on the chassis with a flashlight. I have sucessfully cleaning fluid from the chassis with electrical cleaner spray. after covering the chassis with a piece of plastic the set worked fine. A slow drip leak won't hurt the plastic, big leaks are another story.
hope this helps

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Powers Off; Code 2-2

The 2 fuses you mentioned are associated with the convergence IC. If they are open then the convergence IC is either bad or you have a "cold" solder joint on the IC.

Mitsubishi wt-46809 not turning on

Your convergence amp ICs have most likely failed and that will shut the TV down. You need to replace both convergence ICs they are both STK392-570 you can get replacement ICs with free instalation instructions at the following link.

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Turns on with Power light then turns off

there are 2 fuses -24v and 24 v normally would go out because
covergence ics failled . That would be a shutting down problem cased by missing those voltages.so you would need to replace those 5A (small green fuses) , you would need some kind of soldering and unsolderin skill) and the ics are stk392 570.two also. open the set from the fron ,taking speaker grill off and then the wood board behing (4-6 screws) you the the board in the center big metal heatsink. you would need to work from the back to repace those puppies.hdtvman
