Hey,

Check that the timezone setting is correct, often if the timezone is set incorrectly the time may jump a few hours forward or backward when the computer syncs the time.

Thanks,
Ekse

Turn off actomatically, cannot turn on so far.

Your battery may be too low to allow charging it and "starting" your computer at rhe same time.

Remove the battery and clean the contacts on the battery and the laptop.
1. Plug in the laptop power adapter with no battery in the laptop.
2. Turn ON computer. It should stay turned on.
3. After Windows settles, insert battery.
4. The computer will stay powered on.
5. Allow to charge.

I have a Systemax Venture computer that is 3 years old. Just developed a problem. Turn the computer on and after 20 to 30 seconds the computer shut down. What is wrong???

Hi there.
Remove all power to the desktop, remove the side panel, power the machine up and check that CPU fan is working, if it is turn the computer back off, get a clean, dry paintbrush and gently clean the fan blades and the metal heat sync behind the fan of dust, then restart the PC to see how long it stays on for. If this time it stays on it was overheating.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

A possible expansion card failure has occurred

  1. Determine whether a conflict exists by removing a card and restarting the computer.
  2. If the problem persists, reinstall the card that you removed, remove a different card, and then restart the computer.
  3. Repeat this process for each card. If the computer starts normally, troubleshoot the last card removed from the computer for resource conflicts (see "Resolving Software and Hardware Compatibilities" in your computer Owner's Manual).
  4. If the problem persists, contact Dell for technical assistance.

Scratchy sound within processor

Hi there and welcome to FixYa!

Sounds like you have a build up of dust collected in the fan of your computer which will cause the sound you described.

If you are comfortable with computers, go ahead and open up with the computer tower and use some of the compressed air cleaner you buy at Best Buy or Office Depot to clean it out. This should solve the problem :)

If you are not comfortable, take it into a computer repair store and explain the situation. It should be a very quick, inexpensive fix on their part.

Hope this helps and have a Happy Holiday!

Computer wont stay started

most likely its an over heating problem

most of the time when the computer (CPU) is overheating the computer will shut down by itself to prevent the (CPU) from damaging.

so all you need to do either clean the fans (internal and external fans). or maybe you will need to replace them.
