Question about Sony KDF-E60A20 60 in. LCD HDTV

6 Answers

Video and Audio cycles on and off?

Having trouble with my projection tv, model kdf-e60a20 60 inch Sony. 2 years old.
The picture is continuously turning on and off at a rate of about every 28 seconds. Common to all inputs cable/dvd etc.
While the image is present good picture/audio. low speed fan is running at the back of the tv. Green power light is lit and steady
While picture is gone, video/audio both off, all inputs fan is running. green power is lit and steady.
Any thoughts would be appreciated before I call the repair guy in.
Thanks,
Pat

Tv runs for 2 min then looses picture and sound. Green light flashes for 60 seconds and then picture returns. Repeats every 2 min. Thoughts?

It would seem that *********** board is getting too hot hence why the fan is constantly running and the picture cuts out. seeing that the pro blem exists on all inputs tends credance to this. the whole mother board is not at fault but maybe one ore more of the solid state chips are. unfortunately a repairman is the only way too go in this case to fix the problem.

Buy the SONY SXRD model (KDS-R60XBR1, LCoS based.) IF
NOT, I'd surely choose the LCD rear projection Sony
KDF-E60A20. Remembering neither is a plasma, it's
really a matter of what can you afford and how soon
you want it. There are several other threads in this
forum addressing these same two models, check 'em out.

The TV's load could be too much for the power outlet to handle.
try plugging in the TV in another outlet (or directly to the wall if you are using a surge protector or power strip).

There is a printed circuit board that controls the LCD display, one of the componets on that board is defective, it shuts the picture off and on as it heats and cools, when it works it heats up and then fails until it cools down, this all happens very fast, you will have to have the whole board replaced, you might find that a new TV is cheaper than the repair, keep that mind before you OK the repair bili and the Technician begins work.

I have a 60 inch sony tv that have a red flashing on the lower left side,no picture when I turn it on and there is ringing sound.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

36 inch sony bravia tv I hve no sound plz help

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. My lg plasma tv is cutting off the edges of the shows we are watching. I cant find a setting that will take care of it. Can you help

hmm normally these settings are found in the picture settings of the set top box or just a setting in the tv's picture settings now there might be an option to say fill screen that may work best for some or leave the tv in 16:9 some broadcasts may only be in 4:3 at times this is normal broadcasting and not much can be done unless the setting on the picture option is set to fill screen

Sony Bravia flat screen TV when turned on has black screen. Green light on the bottom is lite up, electric plug is plugged into house socket, no picture only black screen.

If audio is OK, the fault is with its backlight section. If audio too is absent, the fault is with its digital main board. If you wish to get more details visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

I have pioneer plasma tv about 6 years old. I turned the power on, sound but no picture. Do you think it is worth fixing?

no
plasma tv units consume considerable power and the latest led units don't so for the extra cost of a new unit , there will be a power saving over the years

My sony wega kf-50E200A tv keeps turning off. during each cycle the green light blinks 42 times and the tv comes on again for about 3 minutes and it happens all over again

More than likely the power supply is defective, but without testing and the repair manual that is just a guess, you make the decision to replace or repair the TV.
