"Me too". You can leave it for hours and it never gets past the "initializing". No error code. I do not know if the fan is on or not, or what fan is supposed to come on at that time. I reseated all cables. No help.

The Xerox phone help says it is the top scanner/panel part, $650 quote. Out of warranty.

If the fan is not running you most likely have lost either the 24 or 40 volt source which would require replacing the electronic module itself.
The machine never faults out with a XX,XXX,XXX,XXXXX style code.
Like 004,010,045,2333 ??
That is very odd that a code like that does not show up. It can take 15 or 20 minutes to pop up.
But if the fan is not running, there is a missing source voltage. There is no separate low voltage power supply on that machine, and Xerox is horribly expensive on that module. With my discount as a dealer service rep, that module is over $1100 wholesale. It should not be anything related to peripherals

8560 printer shut itself down and will not true back on

The following lists the chain of events that occur when you turn on a printer. You can follow this list as one means of determining if the printer is operating correctly. The exact chain of events depends upon the last power down condition and where the printer has last determined the printhead is positioned, this is stored in non-volatile RAM. The Checklist is the primary reference for troubleshooting power-up problems.

1. Power cord is plugged in and the power switch is turned on:

2. Power supply senses AC line voltage conditions (110 VAC or 220 VAC)

and enables DC voltages. If an overload occurs, the printer turns off the high voltage DC supplies, causing a "blink" effect on the Control Panel LEDs.

3. BIST test flashes the PE LED very briefly at a fast rate until the end of the

next test.

4. The Boot loader performs CPU initialization and RAM test. It then sends

the boot loader version to the serial port.

5. Power-On Self Test (POST) initializes the Control Panel. The Control

Panel LED turns red, green, orange, and then off. The Control Panel LCD then goes black and then clear. The POST version displays on the LCD

and waits two seconds. During this time the operator can press the Back

button to bypass the remaining POST test.

6. Low level Power-On Self Test (POST) diagnostics are performed. The

Control Panel displays status messages as each sub-test is performed.

This test takes about 8 seconds. All LEDs are off during the test.

If POST diagnostics pass, the Control Panel displays the Xerox logo and turns on the green LED.

If the test detects an error, the error message displays on the LCD and the printer flashes the LEDs with a repeating error code pattern.

7. The VxWorks operating system is initialized and engine code is started.

This takes about 15 seconds. The Xerox logo is displayed.

8. Print Engine Self Test (PEST) diagnostics are then performed. These test

the heaters, clutches, motors and solenoids. As each clutch is tested, you hear clicking with four high tones as each motor is tested. This test takes about 30 seconds.

9. The printer now runs the mechanical initialization. The exact sequence
depends on the initial position of the printhead and wiper assembly.

Thinkpad r40 wont boot - has no post beeps- lights come on- then go out except for 2 .Was told it could be a graphics card problem or a screen issue- by someone on a geek squad. They apparently don't know...

Hi,
During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD. Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD.
Might be a defective hdd aswell, in this case to make sure you can run a DFT test, www.google.com -> Look up for " Test DFT " ( Drive fitness tool from hitachi, will make an hardware diag if hdd failure - error code 0x00 = everything fine, other code = Issue - You can look up for accurate code explanation on hitachi website )
As well might be a LCD/Motherboard/Graphic card issue in this case might be related to 3 part, Inverter card, LCD cable or LCD Panel ( Or systemboard, just to make sure try with an external display if the issue reproduce it's systemboard/graphic card related, if not LCD related ).
If you are still entitled to warranty then all theses hardware failures are covered by the terms. You should have the parts stated below replaced as it s a common issue with Thinkpads.
In case you are out of warranty cover you still can try to subscribe to a warranty extension, you can check on www.lenovo.com , otherwise you might want to order theses parts on a website such as ebay.
To swap the pieces requires quiet advanced skills as you might have to take down the whole computer, obviously LCD Panel included ( Unless it's hdd related )
Unfortunalty this is hardware related, not much you can do...
thanks and have a nice day J-

XEROX Phaser 8560MFP won't go past "initializing?"

Disconnect the data cable between the Electronics Module and the Printhead to see if Power On Self Test (POST) gets further, to the point where it displays a system failure code relating to the Printhead being disconnected. If so, replace defective printhead.
