I have had this pda for 2 months and all o fthe sudden today I could not open a directory or open a file on either my memory card or in the computers main memory. I usually store information there but for some reason I can not get at it. When I click on a folder to open it, it simply highlights it. If i click on another item, it highlights that item also (as if the Ctrl key is stuck on a desktop pc)
I tried numerous soft resets and even hard reset it but it wont do anything. Anyone have any tips?

Re: Ipaq 3115 acting funny
This doesn't sound real good. You might as well try the taking the battery out--and since you've already done a hard reset, you might as well try the drastic battery-out-overnight cure. This will provoke another hard reset, but sometimes there's something extra that comes from the device being completely severed from power.
Or, is there a ROM upgrade for your model that you could flash, maybe correcting something that's got corrupted.
Otherwise, it sounds like the unit will have to be looked at for servicing.

Hi. While holding power button, and pressing reset will do a hard reset to your PDA (reset the device to its factory default settings). So if your PDA is working well, don't do it. As for the syncronization with your Vista PC; Winodws XP uses the ActiveSync software for syncronization, and for Windows Vista, Microsoft developed a brand new syncronization software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". It can be downloaded here: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx). When you download/install this software to your PC, you should be able to connect your PDA to your PC without any problem, and definitely without changing any OS in your PDA or PC. Hope this helps.
Somehow, the file that stores all of your contact and calendar data got corrupted, and the Calendar program crashed when opening. To fix the problem, rename the pim.vol file on the system root (it's a hidden file; I use Total Commander for file browsing on my device, which shows hidden files by default) to something like pim.vol.bak. You should now be able to open your Calendar, Contact, and ActiveSync again.
I don't know if you are still around and checking this, but it came up at the top of a google search, so hopefully, anyone else who finds this problem will be able to see the solution without having to hard reset their device.

Solution (on my hx2490 wm5): go into file explorer, and enable view all file in the menu tab, then go into windows directory and find btcoreif file, rename it or delete it, then reboot your pda. and voila! problem solved, sound works fine
This will reset the pda into the original state, so you will loose all files and programs in memory, files in a storage card wont be effected.
Just hold down the calendar and today buttons, these are the two outer buttons on the lower left and lower right, then using a stylus press and hold for at least ten seconds the soft reset button this is located on the lower right edge of the unit. The screen should reset and the iPAQ will boot up again.
I found a program called PocketSlides that you may want to look into. Doesn't look like there is a pocket pc version of powerpoint. Here is the link http://www.ipaqhq.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10670 Goodluck!
