The only way to activate wma on the psp (without hacking it) is to connect it to a wifi hotspot. It takes fewer than 20 seconds and costs nothing. Do this just one time and you're set for the life of the psp.

i think you download the music u should put in the psp as mp3 format and they are asking for wma play back for music hearing in the internet if the format is in mp3 it should definetily work because psp is designed for that try putting the music in mp3 format(or convert the music to mp3 format with mp3 converter)to the psp and it will work and you can hear the music Voila
You need a memory stick duo to play music on your PSP, when you insert the MS duo into the PSP, make sure you got the settings menu and format the MS duo. that way, when you plug the PSP into the PC, it willl already have the neccesary folders to put your music in
try enabling wma playback in thesettings menu. but if you dont have internet, try buying the "media manager" at a video game store for your computer once you download it it acts as a media player and a syncronizer for your psp.
what ever you do, DO NOT RESET SETTINGS cause then you just have to reset them and it wont do you any good. I had the same problem. The most lodgicall way to solve this is just to spend like 3 bucks at mcdonalds and get the wifi so you can play online multiplayer, go on the internet, and fix the wma feature. Or you could just free load off of a friends wifi or wirless setup. But you may have to enter a security code.
Format the memory stick and restart the psp if that doesnt work, get a custom firmware wen installed www.dl.qj.net[ 3.40.oepreferrably] . Switch off the psp hold R trigger and switch on wen the recovery screen comes on, enable it form there.
You need to have wireless internet/router connect to modem(adsl/dsl/cable modems) no dialup .When you have the wireless connection set it up in the internet settings and select the setting to be on automatic and then go and enable WMA playback and then it will download and you should be able to play wma. Another alternative is to use an audio converter such as dbamp or sound forge?(use google)
