Dell XPS 200 PC Desktop Logo

I have a Dell XPS 2010. Lately I have had over heating problems. Pixilated screen, then hand, sometimes I get a warning that it is two how and then it turns off. This normally take several days to reach this point. I can fun the f12 diagnosics and which pass every thing....but can cause it to heat up in a manner of minutes. Have run fan speed on it and find it dies at about 60 ish C. I remove the cover and run XP and it happily runs at 45- 47 C. With the cover on it runs over 50 and slowly increase. Fans are working. Air Current appears clear.... The copper heat transfer system on the right hand side is very how...as well as the components below it. I am assuming this is normal and is just the process of transfering the heat. Can you help on where to go from here.

1. Make sure with a can of air you have blown all the dust out of the computer.
2. If you have added any components to the system, ensure you have enough separation to ensure good air flow.
3. You could have a fan issue. If you are somewhat tech savvy, you could replace the heat sync fan.
4. Sometimes the thermal paste breaks down, or the manufacture uses a low grade paste. Also too little or too much paste can cause issues. CAUTION!! This step should only be performed by someone who knows what they are doing. With the computer off and cooled down, check the heat sync, can you see paste the has oozed out around it (too much paste). If you suspect thermal paste issues, go to an electronic store and get some thermal paste. Remove the heat sink from the processor and clean it with an alcohol prep pad, carfully clean the processor as well (remember it is very delicate). Place a small amount of paste on the heat sink, and then reattach the heat sync to the processor. AGAIN CAUTION THIS SHOULD BE DONE BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

I hope one of these steps will help. Please Please be carefull with all these steps so you do not damage the computer.

Hi there, It seams your heat transfer between you Processor and Heat sink is not proper. I would advise getting some Thermal/Silver paste at a Computer shop. here is a guide on how to apply it. http://www.techpowerup.com/printarticle.php?id=134

My Dell XPS M1530 replaceable battery showing warning sign on the battery icon.

Try to see if there is a BIOS update for your laptop. The last version is A12. That sometimes will fix the problem. If not then it is most likely that the internal charger is built into the motherboard of the laptop is starting to fail. You would have to replace that part or most likely the entire motherboard.

Opitions:
1.) Your system may have an over heating problem
Make sure all your fans are running and not making excessive noise.

2.)You may be a victim of spyware/maleware infections. You will need to have your system cleaned. This should help resolve your issue.

I would recommend trying CCleaner first to see if this helps you. Please keep in mind this will not rid your system of everything just keep you a float and offer you a fighting chance.

Please keep me posted and updated on your issue. I am here for you and will see your issues out till resolved.

Have a great and wonderful day :)

Dell XPS 200 Computer shuts off leaving blinking amber light

3 most common solutions to your problem are:
  1. Bad power supply; once it heats up will quit without warning
  2. Bad heatsink/fan; processor heats up and will lock up your Pc
  3. Bad motherboard
Try opening the machine and give the inside a thorough cleaning, paying special attention to the heatsink and fan. Once clean and you've ensured the fan is operating, put it back together and see if your problem is fixed. If not, a new power supply will likely fix your problem. Best of luck.

Drivers for windows xp of dell xps 1530

I do believe that xps 1530 is built in for vista, that only thing that i can suggest you is you can try to look for the specific driver on other xps laptops for example your chipset is intel mobile then choose xp as the operating system or just directly search in support.dell.com
