Did you mean this model
CGS980SEMSS 30-in. Gas Slide-In Range
if so

This powerful, yet flexible range offers an 18,000 BTU dual stacked burner for both power boiling and precise simmering at temperatures as low as 140 degrees. The cooktop also includes a 17,000 BTU burner, precise simmer burners and a fifth oval center burner with an integrated griddle accessory. Down below you'll find an extra-large self-cleaning oven cavity with precise air convection, as well as a lower baking oven that can also act as a warming drawer.

Where is a gas shut off valve for a GE gas cooktop?

I assume you have found an answer by now, but for the record, they are referring to an *Appliance* gas shutoff valve, not the major one for the home. Each gas appliance should have an easily accessible shut of valve (for a cooktop, it would typically be in the cabinet below). Older homes with basements may have it located there - the idea is to be able to shut the gas off to that individual appliance.

Hot Cooktop indicator

You either have a reed or thermal limiter switch that is bad or a switch that is bad. The only way to determine it is with a meter. I think that this job is better left to a professional unless you know how to use a volt/ohm meter.

How to replace GE JBP65 cooktop?

If you can verify the model number (hers didn't, yours did check out) this might be the place to go:
Sears Parts Direct
Sears carries a huge line of parts for many manufacturers which are sometimes available from a storefront in your area or on line.
On your model number, there is unfortunately no complete parts illustration (line drawing) which they often have available and with a bit of thought, those give you enough insight to the construction to see what has to be done for a repair.
With the part number, I recommend you call Johnstone Supply if you have one in your area. They often have OEM parts at 1/2 to 2/3 anyone elses price. Typical savings; a washing machine pump that the dealer wanted ~$22 for, I bought from Johnstone for almost exactly half; ~$11. They are 'wholesale' but I have never been turned away.
For our appliances that have been available, I have copied (yeah, well, OK, stolen) them and have them on hand locally.

Need a duel fuel range

We love ours have had it for two years. We have the 48" Dual fuel with the grill on top. Model ZDP48N6RH2SS.

The only issue we had to adjust to is the btu's (stove top flame) are so high and there is designated simmer burner or low btu burner.

The grill is excellent especially in the winter but you have to follow the instructions. First time use we didn't let it heat up long enough. Patience - it's worth it.
That's for our model from 2006.
YOu must be sure to get a strong enough range hood for the range you buy.

Low Heat from GE XL44 gas range

you can increase the sides of the flames by opening the orifices, if not differences. make the orifices holes a bit bigger, you can have as big of a flame as you want. those orifices are at the connection of the burner with the valve that supplies gas to the burners.
