Re: synchronization error

First try soft resetting your Ipaq, and restarting your PC.

Original sync worked all others failed with 650 and Outlook 2003

I was ready to give up completely. Uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing worked. Here is what I did to resolve sync errors: 1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm 2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old. 3. Connect the Treo to your computer. 4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom. Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld. 5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now. This worked for me. I hope it helps with your errors.

No synchronization when Outlook express is default mail program

Email synch is based on current MAPI preferences. The problem you have is that the VersaMail conduit assumes your mail client must be the MAPI default email client. You could adopt another profile in Outlook instead of OExpress which picks up the account you use in OE. This is the first instance of this problem I have ever heard of so I doubt if PalmOne would make a software change on this.

Why does pocket mirror trawl through all items when synchronising a calendar

The HotSync software on the Mac was never designed to cope with the scenario where you synch with a PC elsewhere. It assumes that you are performing a recovery synchronization when it sees that the handheld synched elsewhere. The assumption with the Palm OS was always that you synched one computer to one PDA. With more propsperous times, the software has not yet evolved at Palm Source (not part of Palm Inc any longer.) With regards to PocketMirror, there is a setting to allow you to synch to more than one PC. The setting is buried deep in the PocketMirror settings for each of the four conduits. The setting allows PocketMirror to see more than one PC as your route to an Exchange server.

Errors sync with Outlook 2003 and Tungsten T3

I did search through the forums before posting and the only "solution" I found was to buy Chapura PocketMirror for $30 which I refuse to do. I should be able to sync this palm with Office without having to spend even more money.

Unresolved Items when synching

Try the following.... Open Active sync on your PC. Double Click on Calendar. Change the settings such that it syncs only 0 past and 0 future appointments. SYNC (this will clear all calendar items on the IPAQ) Now go back in to those Calendar settings, and set it back to the default which is 2 past weeks and All Future appointments. SYNC (this will now reload all appointments into your Ipaq)

Corrupt Date Book Fixed

Updated Instructions Simple fix for a corrupted Date Book sync error (at least it worked for me on my Treo 650). 1). Turn off 'Show Calendar Event' in the Phones 'Options - General Preferences' menu. 2). Turn off phone. 3). Set the Date/Time to the maximum limits (12/31/31) in Preferences. 4). Open the Calendar and view the maximum day 12/31/31. 5). Select 'Purge - (Delete events older then 1 week)' in the Calendars Options menu. 6). Reset the Date/Time to the current day in Preferences. 7). Hotsync (Desktop Calendar overwrites handheld). 8). Hotsync again to make sure you don’t get the error (Synchronize the files). That’s it. =============================== Outlook Calendar The attempt to open the database failed. Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize. "Communications Error 608"

If you put the Toshiba Pocket PC e740 in your USB Cradle you may receive a "Communication Error 608". This is not a serious error, it is just a false setting in the ActiveSync Program. Please follow these steps below to correct this problem: "Tap" on start and choose the ActiveSync program Then "tap" on "Tools" and choose "Options" in the ActiveSync Program Check under "Enable synchronization when cradled using" to see if the setting is on "USB" If it is set on "Bluetooth", please change it to "USB". Now you can close the application window Important: Please remove the Pocket PC from the cradle and then return it to the cradle. This activates the new setting Important to note: This above described issue occurs if you "tap" accidently on the Bluetooth Icon in the Program Group or activate Bluetooth of any other reason, the ActiveSync Option will be set to "Bluetooth" instead of "USB". This setting will cause the "error 608" if you put in the Pocket PC e740 in the Cradle and start to synchronize over USB.
