Quadro FX550 dual DVI - one port fails to ...

This is bizarre.

Dell Precision 690 system with dual-head FX550 card. When the OS puts the monitors into power save mode, the monitor connected to the RHS port (looking at the card from the back of the computer) does not recover if it is running at max resolution (1600x1200) *AND* it is running DVI.

If I adapt the port to VGA to connect the monitor, it works fine. If I reduce the resolution to 1200x1024 it works fine. The monitors are Dell 2007FP. I've tried many combinations of settings on both ports but the problem seems to be independently specific to the RHS port of the card.
Trying the "kick the cat to see if it twitches" approach. Would like to understand what is going on and how to repair. Thank you.

- Michealm, thank you, but I've tried crossing the monitors and the cables. The issue is persistent with the RHS video card port. Initially it was on the primary monitor; when it happened recovery meant a reboot. I've switched primary and crossed the cables. Now the secondary is impacted, and detaching and attaging brings it back.

Most bizarre is the fact that VGA is not affected. That is my ultimate work-around.

I plan to experiment with an alternate card (more memory) next week. Dell support thinks it might be that. I doubt it, but I've been wrong before once or twice. :-)

I appreciate your feedback though. Thank you.

-   I have the same problem with the same machine and the same card, only difference, I am running Dell 2001FP's. And adapting to VGA is a backwards step. Not a solution. -   bbrooksher

sounds like your monitors are having an issue with the wake-up signal sent by the computer, its kinda of a hit and miss situation, have you tried a different monitor on that one RHS ?
