According to the site below, the drive can burn dual layers discs:
"The 20x DVD multi writer opens up new dimensions for flexible read and
write functions. This high-performance DVD/CD-burner is able to read
your DVDs at a speed of 16x and CDs at 48x. It also brings fascinating
dynamics into play when writing your blank disks. Now it can even write
DVD-R DL two layer media at 12x, while reaching a speed of up to 20x
for DVD+R and DVD-R. DVD+R9 and DVD+RWs are processed at 8x and DVD-RWs
at 6x. And DVD-RAM can be recorded with up to 12x DVD speed. So how
fast can it burn my CDs, you might ask? Even here, with speeds of 48x
(CD-R) and 32x (CD-RW), it’s at the top of its class."
Here's a link that tells you how to do this. They also have a page with tips & tricks & many other usefull articles.( they also have updates for drivers) It's actually pretty easy after you follow these instructions. Good luck. If this helps you plz rate this as 'fixya'. If you have more questions leave a comment & I'll be happy to help. Thank you kindly.
Greetings, Your dvd drive is not capable of burning a dual layer disc. You need to have a burner that is capable of sending the laser through to the second layer of the disc. That said you can get a DL burner for around 30 dollars. Click HERE to see one from Newegg.com. I am not sure what you mean by 'burns, flip, burn dvds.' but if you make another comment I will respond. Take Care, -WN
It's a general-purpose computer, so it is. If you meant the internal burner in particular rather than that laptop using external dual-layer burners, hit eject and read the model number off the bottom of the DVD tray. Google the part number and 'dual-layer' together to find out whether it's supposed to burn dual-layer discs and also find out -with what speeds- people have achieved empirical success burning discs.
