The WiFi radio is turned off and can't be turned back on. Using the special WiFi button doesnt work, neighter the software (it is telling me to first turn on the WiFi button). Need help or schematics for making repairs (to the WiFi button). PS! The WiFi card itself is in mini-PCI slot and works fine on another laptop. So should be a button problem. Need help!

The HP Wireless Assistant application, which should be installed on your notebook, has an option to turn the WiFi radio on and off.
If the application is not installed, or you need additional information, visit HP's page about Wireless Assistant here: Installing and Using HP Wireless Assistant Windows 7 Vista XP
Good luck :)
Try to turn off & power back on the router for 60secs.
If this doesnt work, reset the router using the reset button at the back of it.
If it still doesnt work, youll have to contact your Internet provider, & tell them that you have an Intermittent Connection Problem.
determine if the network is working correctly by using another wifi device and logging on then check to see if you entered the password correctly try resetting the router by either resetting it with the reset button in the back and a paperclip or by unplugging and shutting it off if those dont work try using the windows network repair utility if the wlan connection still doesnt work contact your internet service provider good luck have a nice day post nice things
Press FN+F5 button together on the keyboard to have the settings for display pops up on the screen. Check if the radio button was turned on both for wireless and bluetooth connection. If the radio button was off, just click ON and that should set the wifi to turned on. Always make sure that the wifi switch was set to on as well.
If this didn't fix the problem, kindly reinstall the wifi adapter driver by downloading the driver from the manufacturer's website. after reinstallation kindly reboot the computer.
Please leave comments if you have any other questions.
If the drivers for the wireless adapter contain a setting to toggle wireless radio, it can be located using the
following path: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Right click Wireless Network Connection Icon > Properties >
Configure > Advanced tab
Here you will find a textbox with a list of selectable properties that are populated by the device driver. Once you
select a property there will be a value field with a dropdown box containing configuration options that apply to that
specific property. The name of the wireless radio property may vary because the listed properties are dependent on
each specific device driver. It should be fairly intuitive to determine the correct property if you simply have the user
read all the listed properties to you.
Many laptop manufacturers will place a physical switch on the outside casing of the laptop, so that the user can
easily toggle wireless radio. Sometimes these switches get accidentally turned off, or intentionally turned off and the
end user forgets to switch it back. The best practice in these situations is to ask the user to look for a physical switch
on the case of the laptop, possibly with a symbol of a radio tower next to it. After turning the wireless switch on, the
user will probably need to refresh their network list.
Laptops built by certain manufacturers may have a specific keystroke set up to toggle wireless radio.
Below are some examples of wireless radio software and hardware toggles that we have been able to

It seems the two oval lights on the front of the Acer TravelMate 3003LCi are not only lights to indicate WiFi traffic, but also buttons
to turn the WiFi radio on and off for security reasons. If you press
and hold the left side button for 3-5 seconds it should turn back on
the WiFi radio. Windows XP (and maybe other OS’s) have a power saving
function that turns the radio off when not in use to save the battery,
so you have to use the buttons to turn the radio back on. Seems like a
pain in the @$$ to me, but it’s a clients laptop not mine so he will
have to live with that.
I hope this helps someone so they do not have to go through the
frustration of trying to figure out why the radio has been turned off.
