Hi,
I know if you install windows 7 64-bit operating system, it's automatically all driver's are detected and installed in the system. if not, you need install driver software of your motherboard device. try to download to other PC with internet access. and see your motherboard brand name and model #, and visit the website of that motherboard branch name(like: intel.com, asus.com, etc) or visit this link http://www.driverguide.com
to get driver for free, just join, sign up and get your email confirmation to have free account. and then browse that site, sign in and type ( branch name and model number) click search, if you see there your motherboard or laptop specification, click download, select your present operating system to download compatible software driver.

Let me known if not yet working good,
Regards

You need to download and install the Windows 7 drivers for your device. They don't come with Windows. Only the device manufacturer will have them. If you have a laptop you will need to identify the devices and search other systems that use those same devices and Windows 7 to find them.

Cannot connect to the internet

Go into the device manager and look underneath where it says network adapters. If your ethernet card is listed there then that means the card is bad. If its not listed there then go here to install the drivers for it:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P4_GX260

Choose your Operating System and then choose Network. You might want to take the side off of the computer so you can look at the ethernet card and see who manufactuered it so you know what driver to download.

Download the driver and then after that look at the device manager and you should see the ethernet card in there.

From that point the card should work, if it doesn't then you know for sure at that point that the card is bad.

How can i connect a toshiba runniung windows me. to the internet via ethernet cable? is it possible with just the cable and no card? is there a programe i can download to help my laptop? what can i do?

Hi,
It should have a LAN (network card) built in to the laptop.
First of all make sure you have the LAN (network drivers) installed. You can do this by checking in device manager.
To open device manager click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the System icon. Click the Device Manager tab and look in the list for network adapters/controllers.

If the driver is installed you should be able to directly connect the ethernet cable to your laptop.

I'm not quite sure where the ethernet port is on that particular laptop but it will be on the back or sides of the unit and it will be the only port the ethernet cable fits into.

From there you should be good to go, if you can't get a connection reset the modem by removing power from it for 2 minutes, connect the power again, wait another 2 minutes for the device to settle and try the internet connection again.

Regards.

Network Adapter/Ethernet Controller

Nothing wrong with having two network adapters installed on your computer. If you have this DWA-552 wireless adapter installed as well as an onboard NIC, the correct thing to do is have both drivers installed so you see them both in your Control Panel->Network Connections window.

If you really want the onboard nic to go away, go into device manager and disable it - not uninstall it.

I had to reinstall windows xp. Now I cannot connect to the internet.

Make sure the driver of the Ethernet Card on your computer is installed. You check it under Device Manager

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Network Adapters (click the +). If you see Other Devices with yellow exclamations like Ethernet Controller, that's it. You need to run the Motherboard CD to automatically install the ethernet driver.

Window Re-Install and no Ethernet Driver

use another computer to get the drivers from the dell webite (at home, library, friends) and save them on a CD or removable media. This would be the fastest and cost effective way. If you can get on the net to post this question then you can download and save the drivers as well

A recent mac laptop with Tiger & bootcamp/win XP will connect to the internet via a Netgear DG834G adsl modem with ethernet cable in tiger & XP but only in xp with wireless. Any advice? JL

If I understand you correctly you have an Intel based MAC, with the boot-camp boot manager, so you can choose to boot either from the native MAC OS or from Windows XP.

The system works fine from the MAC OS, but the (wired) ethernet does not work from XP.

1) When you boot into XP mode, the XP operating system is in
charge and the MAC OS is dormant.

2) Check the XP device manager to see if the ethernet NIC
(network device) is properly installed and if the device
drivers are functioning.

From Windows XP:

Right click My Computer ==> Properties => Hardware ==>
==> Device Manager ==> Network Adapters =>
==> Your network controller

Right click on your network controller ==> properties

Check the device status !!!

2) If the device is NOT working properly, you may need to
download and install a device driver for this card.

3) If the device IS working properly, you may need to run
the NETWORK SETUP WIZARD from the control panel:

START ==> Control Panel ==> Network Setup Wizard ==>
==> Next.

4) Assuming you are connecting to DSL with a login password,
use the: "My computer connect to the internet through a
modem" option.

If your DSL is always on, or if you use a local router to
connect to the DSL modem (the router does the work)

Then you choose the: "My computer connects to the
internet through another computer or a residential gateway"
option.
