Hi

make sure that you dont have the fast boo off inn the bios setup. if this is not the case, try to run your pc after shifting the hard drive junper from master to cable select or vice versa.

Way to Speed Up Windows Xp by defragmenting disk

Ensure that Windows XP is utilizing the NTFS file system. If you're not sure, here's how to check: First, double-click the My Computer icon, right-click on the C: Drive, then select Properties. Next, examine the File System type; if it says FAT32, then back-up any important data. Next, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the prompt, type CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS and press the Enter key. This process may take a while; it's important that the computer be uninterrupted and virus-free. The file system used by the boot-able drive will be either FAT32 or NTFS. I highly recommend NTFS for its superior security, reliability, and efficiency with larger disk drives.

Cannot boot from cd and run setup

When booting, the writing on the black screen should give you a couple of options akin to

Press F2 to edit boot options or
Press "Del" to enter setup. (bios)

You can use either, but you need to set your CD/DVD disk drive as the first boot option.

HP Pavilion ze5500 - Laptop won't recognize hard drive.

Hi. Once I had this similar problem with a HP Pavilion dv9000. "No Operating System"; "Windows Recovery Console cannot continue because there's no HD present..press F3 to Exit". No progress with Safe Mode nor Command Prompt, etc.
Then I went to the Bios, change tab to "System Configuration" and change the "Sata Native Support" to disable, whitch says that by changing to disable the HD would work better if the Operating System are Win2000 and Win9x.
Hit "Safe and Exit" and the computer started normaly!
I relly don't know how or why. It just work.
I don't know if would work for Linux (mine had Windows XP) and don't know the Bios view of your laptop. But you can explore and give it a try.
Hope this helps.
God Bless You!

Limited User access will not open files in software program

boot into safe mode on xp. when you start the computer and the bios screen comes up start tapping the F8 key. it should take you to the boot selection screen. press your arrow keys to get to the selection "Windows Safe Mode" and press enter. when xp loads the login screen, there should be an admin account now. use that account to set users access to admin rights.
if you dont want that user to have admin rights but still start software that requires admin rights, try this. right-click on the program. go to run as... and choose administrator.

please let me know if this helped you :)

Reinstall xp

You have to make certain that the system BIOS are set correctly to boot your CD drive first. If you BOOT sequence is set correctly any cd that is bootable should begin to boot first. So try I believe to depress F2 when you boot up your PC for the first time this takes you into the system setup. System BIOS, goto the boot menu and change the settings to make certain that your CD drive is the first to boot. When you reboot your PC make certaint the CD is in the drive before you reboot. In addition you will quickly see a sentence pop up asking you if you would like to begin setup, and if so, depress any key to boot from cd. This should start the process for you!

Xp home will not boot

welll; it sounds to me like there are errors on your hard drive and to fix this problem you are going have to go to bios set the boot device for cdrom and put in the operating system disk it willl scan your harddrive first to see if there are any errors on it and then it will begin to copy the files that are needed and then once alll that is done it will restart your computer but if you have any floppy disks in you will have to take it out and then it will restart it will begin to scan what network devices are on your computer this will take awhile .. once everything is done like your browsing services, control panel, etc you should be finished at this point but you might have to setup your ethernet adapter
