Biult in Webcam problem

Hi, I'm using an HP Pavillion notebook. I don't have any problem using my yahoo messenger version 8.1 before until last night when I used my built in webcam on Yahoo messenger. It crashes when i invite someone to view my webcam. I also have problems with the call function because I can't call nor receive a call from someone. I tried uninstalling the yahoo messenger and reinstalling it but nothing happened. Please help and thanks for taking time to answer my query.

I dont know how to use it

Hi you did not mentioned how to use on which application, for example if its in yahoo messenger than
To find out what the requirements are for a messenger webcam check out the following http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...
Once you have your webcam working outside of Yahoo Messenger you have to configure it to messenger
open messenger - on top toolbar > messenger > preferences > connection - select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in bottom boxes > apply > ok
test
> messenger > my webcam - warning panel will come on click 'ok' and your webcam will launch.
allow options
messenger > preferences > webcam - make your selections about who you want to allow to view you
in use - when you are both on line and wish to show your webcam > actions > 'invite to view my webcam' this will launch an invitation on your contacts screen when they 'accept' - they will see you ( can check status on bottom left of webcam panel
there is a shortcut ( cam picture ) in toolbar and one down by your pic as well but these do not always work
your contacts needs to configure their connection the same as above or they may get a "webcam not connected" message

Hi i have a logitech quickcam 500 when i connect to yahoo messenger ican see people im calling but they get a still picture of me and the thumbnail picture of me on my screen turns white thank...

Make sure the webcam functions in the logitech Toolbar using the Video setting in the Quickcam menu
Check you have at least version 9 of the Microsoft DirectX program installed
Check your settings out
Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers

http://www.testmycam.com/

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger 10.

COMPATIBILITY WITH YAHOO MESSENGER

You MUST use Internet Explorer to visit this page, with your webcam plugged in, to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control. Make sure your webcam broadcasts on this page before moving on

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger10/webcam/mstacamtest.html

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.

INTERNET CONNECTION
Webcam connected
Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

TESTING
> Messenger > My webcam - the warning panel will launch, click 'OK' and your webcam will start. You should be rewarded at this stage with your happy smiling face.

SET WEBCAM DEFAULT
With webcam still running > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam Broadcast > Camera Source - set your webcam as default using dropbox. > Camera Settings - adjust settings to suit. > Apply > OK
Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts

AUDIO
Open Video and Voice - run through your default equipment and make a test call - click OK

PERMISSION OPTIONS
> Messenger > Preferences > Webcam - make your default equipment selections and who you will allow to view you > Apply > OK

I have 8 Mega Pixel Microsoft LifeCam, I have plugged it into my computer however, I don't know to use it

Your webcam will start automatically whenever you launch a video application. Try testing it on mailVU.com. The webcam should come right up after you click Allow access. The same thing happens on Skype, Yahoo Messenger, or MSN afte ryou download their application. If you just want to record webcam videos and pictures on your hard drive try one of the free programs you can download off the Internet. I happen to like the free version of Debut, and find it easy to use on my HP laptop.

Built in camera crashes

I, for one, appreciate your sincerity. I hope it is not false. There have been many different versions of YM over the years and most of them would probably work with the newest Operating System to some degree. Have you verified that you are using the latest YM as I suggest the Beta 9 version instead of the non-beta 8.1 version. My recommendations has more to do with security then anything else but since I KNOW that beta 9 works with my built-in webcam it would nice to know you are using a version of YM that I trust and use nearly 24 hours a day. By the way, when you de-install the old YM, kindly remove the Yahoo! folder ( delete the folder after the de-installation and before the re-installation of software ) located under program files as corrupted files can be left after the de-installatin that might and could affect your future re-installation of the software. If this is the only problem you can see, i.e. no other system problems, I will assume you have a clean computer ( one not infected by some virus, etc ) so just do as instructed above and get back to me please.

Yahoo messenger - Webcam is not connected

You cannot access camera source until the webcam is running in Messenger - try setting it up from scratch
1) The webcam is working outside of Messenger
2) Reboot webcam by unplugging the USB connection and inserting it again - its important if its been used elsewhere and prior to chat.
