Question about Whirlpool AWM8163 Front Load Washer

AWM 8163 Whirlpool washing machine

When my machine goes into the spin cycle it makes lots of noise along with vibration. If I push the left side of the door in it makes the machine run a lot quiter. I have replaced the motor and just recently I replaced the shock absorbers thinking that may cure the problem.

Just to let you know before the washer goes into spin cycle it seems to try and balance the load. It still does this but it is still noisy.

If I set the spin speed down to 1400 RPM or less then it is quiet.

I am thinking now it must be the main bearing as I can't see anything broken or loose.

Help please

Cheers

Pete

My washing machine makes a noise when spinning. Turning the drum by hand I can hear a noise of metal scratching on metal at two points in one revolution. The drum is split into 3 sections or vanes. There is a slight scratch of metal on metal at 120degrees and 240degrees. After a spin one item in the washing comes out with oily spots (4 or 5) in a line separated by the distance between the holes in the drum. It looks like the piece of washing is picking up the debris from the obstruction during spin. The noise appears to be coming from the right hand centre where the outer drum is suspended on the shock absorber spring. I suspect the inner drum has a snag at two points. The bearing appears to be OK since I cannot manipulate the drum by hand to get rid of the scratching noise

Hi there,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound
during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and
redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Auto washing machine drum vibrates makes loud noise

When machine is empty use fingers to try and move drum side to side. Is there excessive movement? 2 to 3 mm is ok. If drum moves to much it will be the drum bearings. Easy fix for an engineer or competent diyer. Millions of how to videos on utube.

Spinning cycle makes a lot of noise

See if the tub will spin freely by hand. Spin it both ways. It should coast silently to a stop. If you hear a dragging sound or it doesn't spin smoothly look for a sock between the inner and outer tubs. Start looking in the upper left side at about the 10:00 and 11:00 positions. That's where i usually find them.
If it seems to spin ok then see if the inner tub wobbles separately from the outer drum. Push up on inner basket from inside. The outer drum and inner tub should rise and fall as a solid piece. If you feel a separation the bearings need replaced or the spider assembly has broken. Only a complete teardown can tell which. Hope this helps.

NO. Have you checked if he installed an anti vibration pads. This is because the high frequency vibrations caused by the spin cycle can cause annoying noise and very serious long term structural damage to you home.

Removed the top cover of the machine and cleared out the hoses and the plastci chamber, which was full of limescale which had built up and also unscrewed the front outlet cover, again that had become clogged up with alsorts debris. Now it works a treat.

FAULT CODE F11

F-11 like a Kenmore means communication error between the motor control and the main control. Check connections, unplug and replug computer connections and see if problem persists. I've seen cases where either board or even both can be bad.
