You are going to want to see if the power supply at the back of the computer is working if not then you will have to invest in a new power supply

Single blue light flash then nothing

your computer power supply or motherboard is dead. I'd bring it in to a computer store for repairs/parts replacement. (if it's not under warranty, of course).

At startup, screen flashes blue, but will not stay open long enought to read. continues to enter setup. nothing will open vista program fron there. only repeats steps

Hi,
If the Operating System Restore CD finishes and the computer reboots and ejects the CD and it still doesn't work, the problem could be with your hard drive.

If the computer powers off on its own unexpectedly, the problem could be with your power supply.

Replacing these parts can be done in most cases using only a screwdriver to remove the case screws on the computer, opening the case, then unplugging the old unit and plugging in the new one in the same spot.

if there is no post sound (beeps) and the pc does have a speaker you can try this first.

remove the power cable
hold the power button in for 15 seconds to clear the residual power.
replace cord and power on

if you still have the same result, then you need to learn how to reset the bios/cmos on your system.

Describe your dell dimension E521 wont boot and Problem my computer turns on but doesn't open it goes to a black screen with little flashing bar in top left corner nothing new was installed but there...

The 123 lights on tower translates as:

Routine system activity subsequent to video initialization.
Watch your monitor for on-screen messages.

Disconnect the video cable from the computer and see if you get floating color bars on display. If not, your monitor is defective.

My power went out in my house and when the power was restored my computer would not turn on...there is a blue flashing light in the back of the computer.

The blue flashing light is probably on your power supply. I suspect that the power supply was subjected to a voltage surge during your power outage. It may have damaged your power supply (or possibly other components in your computer)

Try unplugging the power supply from the wall socket and leave it unplugged for at least 5 minutes. Then plug it in and see if your computer will turn on. If it will not, you require the assistance of a PC technician to test your power supply and computer.

You should connect a surge protector or UPS (Uninteruptable Power Supply) to your computer to prevent this from happening again.

I have an HP Pavilion A1240N that experienced a power outage/surge. The unit will not power up. Blue light flashing on the rear of the unit. Please help??

Here is an HP support article that will help you to diagnose the cause of this problem. If you determine that the power supply has failed, you can have it load tested by a local computer tech to confirm your findings, and it can usually be replaced for about $30.00.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

nope...you might have lost any combination of these items:

A. Power supply

This is a good reason why folks use UPS devices. Hope this turns out for you.

No task bar or icons appearing on screen

the easiest option will be to do a system restore to before the outage; Start/All programmes>accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Then choose restore my computer to previous settings, then choose a date that is not greyed out. Hope this sorts it Please rate solution
