I know exactly what you mean. i need to reformat it because the computer knows something is there but it doesn't say that there are any files located in it. so if there's any way at all to reset it please let me know. (and a powerful magnet is my next choice...)

my sansa m240 mp3 player was working fine, then all of a sudden it just stopped working. I changed the battery to be on the safe side, but it won't start up. When i connect it to the computer, it will allow me to add and remove music, but once disconnected it will not power on. I have tried to reformat it but that hasn't worked.

1. Are you able to turn it on ?
If so, press the the "power on" button the second time to activate the menu.
Still no luck ! Try putting in a new battery and try again.
2. You cannot "reset" anything.
3. Open up "windows explorer"
4. Scroll down the left pane of the window till you see the "sansa" removable disk
5. Right click it and select "format"
6. After formatting, try adding your files back again.
7. Use the >= button on the player tp play the songs.

Hope this has been helpful to you.

How to reset mp3 player

SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players are portable devices that play music, video and share pictures. These particular MP3 players are popular options due to their use of MicroSD cards, which offer constant memory expansion by simply rotating the use of various SanDisk memory cards. As with many portable music devices, however, these players occasionally "freezes up" and needs to be reset to resume normal operation. This is a simple process that can be completed with minimal effort.

Slide the power button on your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player up.

Hold the power button on your Sansa in the up position for about 15 seconds. This action serves as a powering down of the Sansa device.

Wait for your Sansa MP3 player to restart and let go of the power button. Actions taken during your last operation since powering down normally have been deleted and your player is now reset.

While i am listening to songs suddenly it stopped working i tried to reset but still not working . my sandisk-sansa mp3 is not getting charged even though its connected

sounds like its defective if it is not charging. Or the battery is going bad, is there a way you can replace the battery? As for it suddenly stopping, try a different album, maybe its specific mp3s that are corrupt? All else fails call up the company and see what they say.

Sansa E250 hanged

I got a sansa player and it all of a sudden stopped working - It might just need to be reset - not sure if this will help but it did with mine.

If you have a power button that "slides" hold it up in the "on" position for 15 seconds.

Sansa Shaker stopped working

Hello there. i hope i am not too late with my solution. The sansa shaker has acted like yours is some numerous times but the solution can be as simple as ever. Try replacing the battery with a brand new one. However if this solution does not work simply take it back to the place you bought it with the slip and tell them your problem... they will probably give you a new one.

This is a well know fault with the m240. The easiest fix is to take it back to the store you bought it from and get a replacement :)

Just stopped working!

Thats really weird !!! solution 1: Try hard resetting it (thats putting everything back to like when you bought it). To do that hold the power button 15 seconds. solution 2: If you just bought it, i would say to bring it back at the store you bought for an exchange or refund.
