Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

I've just purchased an InFocus x10 and i'm having problems playing my ps3 on it. Playing movies through my dvd player is fine but when i switch it over to the ps3, it is having problems detecting the signal. I'm using the Onkyo TX SR606 amplifier to channel my dvd, ps3 to the projector(using monster hdmi cables). I've read reviews on the amplifier and according to the reviews i shouldn't have any problems playing my ps3 through it. Any help would be great.

I have the same problem. I managed to find out that the fault is due to PS3 incompatiblity. Right now allegedy Sony and Infocus are working on this problem. Simply put: Sony PS3 latest models do not always work with other TV LCD's or projectors via HDMI link.

I have the same problem. I actually get the initial language choice screen showing up on my X10 and then once I select a language, the PS3 says that it detects an HDMI device and do I want to get sound and video through HDMI. I say yes, and screen goes blank. Saying no, screen also goes blank.... Any solutions to get past this screen?

My TV works fine. The only problem is that when i'm watching a movie, or playing PS3 the field seems dark. Sometimes is FIFA Soccer, in the shadow, i can't even see my players because of the dark...

It is possible that there is a allergy that is growing the blue and green gun, it will not grow in the red gun, and it blocks the video and makes it look dark, on the greenish side. To fix the problem, you have to change the coolant in the guns, and then it will look like new again.

This is not a TV problem? The sd-p1600 is a portable DVD player. Are you trying to connect it to your TV? Or is you Portable DVD Player not playing?

The screen jumps around a bunch when i go to play games or dvds. sometimes while other things are playing also. not sure if its the resolution settings or what.

Sounds like either the PS3 is set to 1080p (52hm84 only does 1080i/720p) or you're ps3 is beginning to go. Try it on another HD screen or change to another input (HDMI --> component (RGB))

DVD to Projection TV Problem

Looks like you've narrowed it down to a problem in the TV's chroma processing circuitry. This could get expensive to fix and these TVs are known for some other serious issues. I would guess that you can locate a service tech for around $100 or so to get a diagnosis since the company I work for charges $85.00 for call within 10 miles of the shop. Call Toshiba and they'll locate a local authorized service center.

Wavy picture after hooking up component switch

What you are using is probably an active switch. Many of the movies have macrovision protection. The active switch is having problems to deal with sync pulses from the video containing the macro vision protection.

My trutech tv has a built in dvd player and it isnt playing dvds any mor.

clean the lens of your dvd player that might solve your problem. if not then have a tech take a look at it, as the problem can be more technical than user friendly.or purchase a new dvd player if it will cost too much to repair.

good luck

The simplest solution is always the easiest to try. Unplug the video cable of your dvd player. Plug your PS3 video cable in and test.
