Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC

2 hard disks

Hi. I need help from somebody. My problem is that i have a new sata II 250gb hard disk in my computer. There is also a windows xp installed on my old 80gb hard disk.I wanted to install wiindows on the new one, so i plugged off the old one. But after restarting it was written: Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter. So I installed windows xp onto new hard disk without plugging off the old one. Now when the system is loading, i can choose from 2 windows. But what can i do if i want to have only one, that one on the new.
I again tried to plug off the old one after installation, but still written out? disk failure...
Thanks for your help.
Nice day for everybody!

    Thanks for your answer very much.

    After I do this, can I plug out the old hd, or it can also stay there?

    What exactly have to be deleted? I have written there:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

    I can put the value back if i want later? The 2 installed windows will not make problems in the future?

    I have an other problem now. I think I was hurrying a bit with it, but I installed the motherboard drivers and graffic card onto new hd, but after restarting the windows doesn t want to start at all.

    May I still ask for your help? Thanks

Because you have a dual boot system, you have two 'C' drives, which in fact is a good idea if you get a system failure on the drive you are using, you can select the other and still view any files on the other drive through my computer.

f using XP, right click my computer, then properties, then click advanced tab, then startup and recovery listing click settings, at the top system startup, select the default operating system, then click EDIT button, then delete the value that points to the other hard drive more than likely listed as disc1, disk 0 will be the one you have connected as master boot hard drive

It sounds like your hard drive is messed up. Don't worry you can have the data retrieved from your hard drive by using this online company that I highly recommend:

My PC don't recognize HD Samsung Sata II 250gb

If you mean the drivers for your SATA harddisk, you should have gotten a CD with your motherboard that contains drivers they might be labeled as RAID, sata, or EIDE controller. when you click that it should prompt you for a floppy disk to put the drivers on, you need to put a floppy disk in drive A and then extract the RAID drivers to your floppy, when installing windows press F6 at the begining of the installation and it will act like it didn't work for a minute and then it will pop up asking you something, you press S and then you will be asked to insert your floppy disk. It might ask you if you want to install the x86 or x64 drivers, x86 is 32bit and x64 is 64 bit, if you don't know which you are using it should tell you somewhere on your windows disk. another option is to get a sata controller that isn't part of your motherboard, it would be a pci-e card and it would come with drivers. I don't know where you could download your drivers from because I think the driver you need is specific to the type of SATA controller your motherboard has in it, but I do know that seagate and western digital have sata drivers available as well for their harddrives so I don't know what to tell you. best shot is your motherboard driver CD.

Hey, congratulations on successfully installing the harddive.

Since its brand new, there is no volume in the disk (no partition and not formated)

To create a new volume and format the disk for the first time

on desktop, right click my computer icon, select manage from the menu, on the left side of the management window click on disk management

now on the right side, find your new harddrive, right click on it (its most likely the drive 1)

so right click on the 250gb hdd, create new volume, use NTFS default settings, and you may use quick format. normal format will take from 15 minutes to a hour or more.

with quick format the disk will be useable within seconds.

after this is complete you will see a new disk in my computer.

If you need more assistance let me know, I'm here to help
Also, remember to rate the solutions :-)
