If you have the same problems with usb then your problem lies outside the laptop. if your led does not light it is possible your laptop wasnt wired for wifi or your led is not working. Where you place the wifi card is there 2 wires 1 black and 1 white

Turn on my wireless wi fi on my lap top saying my lan in os is off

On many laptops, there is an external switch to turn the wi-fi on/off. This is normally found on the front or sides of the laptop case. It can be easy to turn off the wi-fi accidentally if you grab your laptop a certain way that causes you to press the switch.

On some laptops, you will find the wi-fi on/off switch by raising the laptop screen to expose the keyboard. The switch may often be found by looking at the area above the keyboard. In almost every case, the wi-fi on/off switch will be lit if the wi-fi is on, and unlit if the wi-fi is turned off.

Hi, i have a acrr aspire one, it was not mine and can't get it to get wi-fi or internet, am not very good at this neither, i realy need help.

First, loof for a special icon along the top row of your keyboard. One of those keys turns wi-fi on and off. You may need to hold down the "FN" key while pressing the wi-fi key. Make sure that you have selected the wi-fi "on" setting. Next, you can try going somewhere that has free wi-fi such as a Starbucks coffee bar or a restaurant. Open your internet browser (Internet Explorer has a large blue icon of the letter "e"). See if you get on the internet. If so, your wireless adapter is working OK. Now, most homes have wi-fi that is password protected. Click on the little bar graph icon in lower right corner of your screen and a list of available wi-fi networks should appear. Choose your home wi-fi and click on Connect. This will open a screen where you must enter the passwordor passphrase to gain access to the wi-fi. Good luck.

If u have a late model laptop, it would have come with wi Fi (wireless) switch, most likely in the front this turns your with Fi on and off, if its a late model you can buy a with Fi card for laptops, or a USB wi Fi dongle which allows you to connect to wi Fi , they can be bought at Harvey Norman or eBay ..

My hardware radio switch is off how do i turn it back on please

The Wi-Fi indicator light is on the top right above the keyboard.

The switch to turn Wi-Fi on is located on the Left side.
There are a series of 10 vent holes. 5 across the top, 5 across the bottom.

Looking at the vent holes. Underneath them is the Wi-Fi switch. It is the switch that is closest to the Front.
(The Front of the laptop is towards you)

To turn it on slide the switch forward, and let it release to the middle position.

you can see the wi-fi switch...you turn on and it will work if you install already the wireless driver...its only the problem with the switch combination between wireless..there some option also for enabling the wi-fi...you can press FN key + wi-fi botton.

Want Instant wi fi when turning on my laptop

Hp comes with a wi-fi utility and I dont find it very useful, so first, you might want to uninstall the software from add or remove programs and then use windows to manage your wi-fi.
Once you connect to a wireless network from 'network connections', it will automatically be set to default and should connect at the computer startup.
If it does not connect automatically.go to 'change order of prefered networks' and put your prefered network on top and set to automatically.

Wireless no longer works

1st Solution:
Check if the wi-fi card is properly installed under Device Manager. Go to Start then look for Control Panel on the right pane. Under Control Panel look for System and Maintenance and then click on Device Manager. Now under Device Manager look for Network Adapters and collapse or click the arrow next to it. Check if your wi-fi adapter is installed(10/100 or 10/1000 is your LAN adapter, wi-fi adapters usually indicates something like 802.11x(could be agn or g or b) or the word "wireless". If you don't see anything I mentioned above that means your computer is unable to detect any wi-fi adapters installed. Know if you found a wi-fi adapter but there is a yellow exclamation or question mark, all you have to do is re-install the drivers for your wi-fi adapter(you can download the drivers on the Compaq website for free.)

2nd Solution:
Check if the wi-fi is disabled or stopped, if you have a bulit in wi-fi adapter on your laptop they have a wi-fi switch on the side or near the function keys(F1, F2, F3 up to F12). Wi-fi button/switch will have a logo or marking of an antenna that has waves coming out of it and there is a LED light that will indicate if its on or off(for Comapaq laptops it's either a blue button at the front, near the function keys or at the front panel on the buttom edge.

If both fails then you may need to contact Compaq for further assistance.

Hope this will help you fixin the wi-fi problems on your laptop.

Regards
