Question about Toshiba e400 Pocket PC

ActiveSync - not sync-ing all data!

After losing all data again on my e400 this time when I re-established the connection to my PC through ActiveSync - I have been unable to find any way to re-establish my "contacts data. This did not appear to be an issue in the past as it always did that before. Each time your PDA has been reset it is necessary to name the PDA differently through ActiveSync and though I can see that my computer appears to retain the "contacts" information I am totally blocked for accessing it. Due to this problem I have not used the PDA now for 6 months. Even if the USB Sync cble is plugged in upside down - (which unfortunately it can do) - the PDA re-sets and a new PocketPC identity must be created in Windows through ActiveSync. I can't just use an older inentity as I need to do now. I have no idea why this did not cause me to lose the contact data before and why it has now.

Re: ActiveSync - not sync-ing all data!

As far as I know you can define the new name and use PDA without any problem. This is not a kind of problem. Create a new name and make connection. You will be also able to remove all old PDA names.

I would like to know how 2 upload pictures from my At&t tilt phone to my computer

You need to sync your phone to your PC using a usb cable and Activesync 4.5 ( free from Microsoft) or Windows Mobile Device Center ( for Vista, also free on MS download site). Download either of these programs onto your phone,
and plug your phone to your computer with the usb cable, The wizard will help you setup your connection. Once the connection is established, Activesync will generate a sync folder on your desktop. Your pictures will sync from your phone to this folder

IPAQ 1950 suddenly will not connect to PC to allow sync

Same problem, on four computers with two iPAQ 1950's. I installed ActiveSync 4.5, and all works fine now. This link will get you to AS 4.5:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-register.mspx

This SHOULD work for all PDAs, but I have only used it for the 1950.

Serious Issue re ActiveSync 4.5, HTC Touch, WM6

Try this, I read it on a microsoft.com forum.
Disconnect the device from the PC.
Open Activesync on the device.
Open the "Menu".
Click "Options"
Uncheck "E-mail" from Data you want to Sync.
Click "Done"
and re-sync devise to PC.

Once I did that, my contacts and all my appointments sync'd.
Hope that helps...
It seems tons of people have had this annoying issue.

NO file transfers are working!

Try deleting the partnership in ActiveSync on the PC, and then create a new partnership. I saw this problem, when I connected the first time to a PC. I tried connecting to a second PC, and had no problem. When I went back to the first, it required that I create a new partnership, and no problem with the connection.

ActiveSync 'Unresolved Items'

At some point when I installed some windows updates, my Outlook started asking if I wanted to allow ActiveSync to access Outlook's data and for how long. Do you get a dialogue like this when you sync while Outlook is running? Could it be that when it's not running, you aren't given the dialogue and thus permission is not granted to ActiveSync to access the data?

Data recovery after battery disconnect

You are absolutely right. The “SD WIFI+256 MB” don’t work properly. Unfortunately there is no software that can re-establish your data again. You must be very carefully and always make data back up using SD card. This is the best and securest way to save all your data.

Losing all my data

PDA technology is a little bit different and there is no possibility to save data like using notebook and there is no memory medium like HDD. That means that you must continuously make data back up using SD Card. If there is no power supply all data will be lost after two or three days.

Please help! Cannot sync....

You need to install Activesync onto your PC. Activesync comes on the CD that came with your Ipaq , or the latest version can be downloaded from here... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2eb5bd80-d52c-45 60-ae11-da92f2b229fa&DisplayLang=en Then from your PC (not your IPAQ), open Activesync, click on File, Get Connected and do NOT cradle the IPAQ until it tells you to. The Activesync on the IPAQ is for wireless syncs, which cannot be done until youu establish a partnership with this first wired sync. You will need a wireless network to do a wireless sync.
