Hello,

If you take the laptop in a dark room and shine a flashlight into the lcd can you see any icons or logos? If so, it could be a bad power inverter board. If not, it could be a bad lcd and/or power inverter.

If you want to to try to repair it yourself here is a link with some generic information.

backlight
-failure/">http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/09/05/troubleshooting-laptop-with-backlight-failure/

If you don't fill comfortable with doing the repair I would contact a repair store for further assistance.

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

Gateway 7330GZ problems

Computer does not boot up
The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.
Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

No video from d9ooTBAT-12 Alienware Laptop

Give more descriptions--does it display the DOS boot up screen (IT guys call it POST-power on self test)? This is the black screen that displays some information about the computer's hardware, and may give you F key options or DEL for setup, etc. Does it beep? Try using a VGA cable and connect it to an external monitor? Remove the RAM and try booting and see what it does? or Reseat the RAM chips located under the laptop.

Black screen.

Always worth a go, but probably you will need to attach the HD to another pc.
There a a couple of ways to do this.
1 open pc remove HD and attach to the other pc
2 remove HD and fit it into an external hard drive enclosure
or finaly there are usb hard drive docks that you just push your hard drive in.

Re Boot

Try disconnecting everything from teh system. turn off the system. Take the battery out and unplug the Power cable. Leave it that way for 5 minutes and then hold the Power button for 1 min and then connect the battery to the system only. and try turning it on.

Hope this Help.
Cheers!!!
