Question about HP iPAQ HX4700 Pocket PC

1 Answer

ROM Version I'm looking for the newest ROM Update for the IPAQ hx 4700. It should be higher then the version 1.10.xx because this version doesn't work together with the 3600 mA Akku.

Re: ROM Version

You should install the ROM v1.10 update, and then install the 8/3/2005 XIP BIOS update recently posted at: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp30501-31000/sp30939.exe Apparently, this BIOS update is supposed to correct the region in ROM v1.10 where the hi-capacity battery read error is found, without incrementing the ROM version. It's explained in the BIOS update "Read Me" file, here: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp30501-31000/sp30939.txt

Hp back files on card can my computer restore these

The Hx 4700 series and the & The Hx2190 have a removable card Compact Flash or SD Card, if the information you want was stored on these you can buy a USB Card reader from woolies plug the SD or Compact flash into the card reader and plug it into the USB port of your PC or mac and it will be readable (no drivers needed). You may also be interested to know that there are updated ROMS available for this model to update the OS & the Office Apps + increase the max capacity of the storage cards that are recognized.

How to change in english language version? hp h4150

It should be possible to update the ROM to the english version.

You can download the update utility here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=349042&prodNameId=349044&swEnvOID=1087&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=PSG_I21908-106179
The support site also contains installation instructions. Please be 100% sure that this is the correct update for your model before doing anything as an incorrect ROM flash can damage or permanently prevent your iPAQ from working.

Hx4700 wont work after failed update on ROM v1.10

Try hard reset: pressing and holding the calendar and iTask buttons and doing a soft reset for 2 seconds.

Hard resetting a WM 5 HX 4700 is to press and hold the Contacts and Mail buttons and then doing a soft reset. The boot screen will popup with a message “To perform a clean reset, which will clear all data in memory, press the [Calendar] button”

If that fails, try upgrading to wm 6 or wm 6.1 then downgrading afterwards.

I've upgraded from wm2003SE to wm6.1 alkor rc2.2 rom.

Where can I get a free upgrade for my HP Ipaq rx3115 for windows Vista?

For compatibility with Vista it should only require installing the newest version of ActiveSync which is free from Microsoft's site. But, If you mean the Pocket PC OS Revision, I don't think you can legally update the OS beyond a version number (Like 3.3 to 3.5) and if your not able to sync with certain Office components, etc. because of the OS, there isn't much choice legally but to buy the upgrade.

HP IPAQ 5555 1.10.13 ROM UPDATE

I thought my 5555 with 1.10.10 was the latest and most stable?? How come i didnt know about 1.10.13 ROM Update... Anyway, i think it is your Camera Update that causes it. But to confirm, which ROM are you using now? Go to "Start" >> Settings >> "Asset Viewer" >> Under Version >> check the ROM Revision. 1.10.10 had no major problems, only sometimes when i couldnt connect to my wireless router / bluetooth problems, but now it is okay, dun worry.

New ROM update - navigation issues

I had the same problem. By turning of the POI (Points Of Interest) it no longer crashed. There is also and update for tomtom, version 5.10. (www.tomtom.com -> support). I haven't checked it out myself though. There is a guide available on how to configure your non-tomtom-bt GPS mouse. http://62.250.17.58/cgi-bin/uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3236&p_cre ated=1119370927&p_sid=Bs6i7vLh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYn k9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0zMzgmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZ wX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1 good luck!

H3630 upgrade rom 2.07 to 2.20

I would check your iPAQ to see what operating system is showing. Start -> Settings -> System (Tab on bottom) -> About (icon) this will tell you if its 2000 or 2002. You may have to acquire an older ROM and reflash.
