Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I own an acer aspire 5610-4179 laptop. When I turn it on, it wants to go into disc checking saying the file that needs to be checked is C and that it is FAT32 (whatever that means). Then it boots up but soon shuts off with a windows has suffered a serious error box. Sometimes I can open some frames but never get very far because it shuts off but then immediately tries to boot up again. can you help me fix this without losing my data?

How do i fix a disc error on my acer aspire

Make sure you do not have any devices plugged in to the computer like a USB flash drive or a MMC. Usually what you have to do about that is to drain the power of the computer. Turn it off, remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter and then press the power button for 5 secs. Turn it on using the AC adapter alone. if you still get the same message, You will have to physically open the back of your laptop and reseat the Hard drive. If it still wont correct the problem, restart you computer and either press f2 or delete to enter the BIOS page. check if the HDD is properly detected and try to reload the BIOS defaults. now if any of these wont work, call ACER and most probably your Hard Drive is bad.

Creating recovery discs After setting up the computer for the first time, be sure to create a set of recovery discs of the full factory image. the recovery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and recover the operating system and software to factory settings in case of system instability or failure.

E-mailing or downloading pictures from my Acer Aspire laptop

The file your seeing of your pictures on your computer may just be a temporary folder where they are held, have you saved the folder to your computer ? Try that and see if it works. I had the same problem on XP, there is no indication that I saw saying it was a temporary file, drove me nuts for a while untill I figured it out. Hope that works,
Matt

Check disc makes the screen go blank

The disc check stopping and going to a blank screen, indicates a bad sector in the hard drive, and the drive will need replaced. If you can still use the machine by skipping the check disc, then you need to back up any files that you want to keep, eventually the hard drive will fail completely, if it hasn't already.

Acer will not open any programs

your pc should check the system files on boot up and will keep asking until you allow it to do so. If it doesn't run through a system check and just stays at 0% then there is a serious fault either with the operating system or your hard drive is failing. You will need to repair windows with your installation disc as if you cannot get into windows you will need to restore your system. I am assuming when you say you cannot open up programmes, you mean you cannot get to your desktop.
