Make sure you have the driver installed on your system, if yes then try to change the cable you use to connect the printer.. give us more detail like a message or light flashing..

This is all HP recommends for the HP Deskjet 2460, so I wouldn't suggest buying anything else. First of all it might not fit and second, even if it fits, other issues may come with using those. What is your operating system? If it is vista 32 bit then this is a link for your drivers. Vista if you have xp then these would be your basic drivers. Windows XP if you want to choose your own operating system and the full drivers set then click this one Full Options
Make sure your computer uses one of the following operating systems(Apple MacOS X 10.4 or later, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition,
