I have an echo p250 that just stopped running in the middle of use. I've taken it apart up to but not pulling the head off. Cleaned and rebuilt it. has spark has gas sometimes if I keep the trigger pulled and pull start 3 or 4 quick times it actually starts but runs at half speed and sounds muffled until I let the gas off then dies.

I have echo p403. Similar but not exactly my issue. Rebuild the carb if you didn't already. Alternatively, you can buy a new carb approx 35$. After parts purchase and your time, 35$ isn't to expensive. The carb uses a diaphragm that seems to melts over time and use. I'm not a chemist, I can only tell you what I found inside, the diaphragm was like jelly after 10+ years of use.

Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.

Some Poulans vent thru a fuel line going from the tank to the carburetor. Some vent thru the cap but eventually the duck bill valve starts leaking fuel. Then I suspect some people change that cap to one without a vent, which causes the problem you are describing.

Because the unit fires and runs for about 6-8 seconds the issue sounds to be fuel delivery problem. If you changed the fuel lines and checked the diaphragm, was the old lines bad? The carburetor could have sucked up some of the old fuel lines. You may need to change the carburetor.

Echo HC-150 rebuilt the carb, and now the primer bulb sticks and engine won't start
Try to pressure test the carb to see if you have an internal leak. If it won't hold pressure then it is junk and needs to be replaced. If it holds then double check that you didn't accidently put the gaskets and diaphragm in wrong. If it holds and still doesn't work right replace the carb anyway. They are relatively inexpensive

This sounds very much like a blocked spark arrestor in the muffler outlet, or the exhaust port is blocked with carbon, remove the muffler and look up the open exhaust port for signs of carbon build up, somewhere in the muffler there will be a mesh gauze ( spark arrestor ) either clean this or remove it completley.

The carburetor may need to be taken apart and cleaned or rebuilt. If you haven't taken one apart before your best bet is to see if you can get an after market carb for it, that would probably be the cheapest way out.
