A/c issue I just bought a 1998 Jetta TDI. The previous oner said a/c needed charging. I checked the system with a guage and it reads high pressure( on low pressure side). Fans work well, when you push a/c button sounds like compressor is working, but no cold/cool air. What now?

I just replaced the Volkswagen/Audi Auxiliary Fan for $26.86 (Control Unit # 1J0 919 506 K)... FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!
Originally I had: Both fans and compressor not working, all fuses good, and all grounds good, and an extremely high 134a pressure on both the High and Low side. I bought the part on eBay, swapped it out, and instantly problem solved!
(Side note) I discovered that one fan is not working correctly (which I will address later), however the A/C is working GREAT again!

Could be a couple things - one, if the fan switch for the AC condenser is not working, it'll keep the AC from kicking on, but that's usually seen by the compressor not coming on. When you activate the AC, do your RPM drop down at all? It should. If it does, the compressor is kicking on and you probably have a problem with the expansion valve, which is what flash chills the air. The car is pumping freon around but it's not cooling enough to cool the car. That's likely an expansion valve problem.

If you turn it on and the revs don't dip down momentarily, the compressor isn't coming on, and it could be the fan switch underhood or the AC relay.

My 2006 vw jetta tdi lost power and died wont restart am told need code to restart but dont have right code

You will have to have the fault codes read by a code reading machine . That will tell you why the engine stopped. I am suggesting that you check to see if the cam shaft is turning when you try to start it as the timing belt may be broken. Repair/replace items listed by the codes -reset the CPU with the code reader

The battery warning light means the alternator is not charging the battery. And the check engine light is probably for the same issue.
Have you had the charging system checked ?

Recharge air on a 1998 oldsmobile bravada

You didnt actually post a question so I will try to help. You need 134a refrigerant and a way to get it into the system. Places like walmart and Advance Auto Parts has what you need. Most diy kits have a hose to connect to the Low Pressure side of the ac system and a guage. The other end of the guage has a connector that fits on the can of 134a. Start the car, turn the ac on high, open the hood. Being careful of moving parts under the hood, connect the hose to the Low Pressure side of the ac and see where the guage is reading. Most are color coded. If it says it needs charged, squeeze the trigger until the can is empty and take another reading. Continue until the guage is in normal range.

Jetta 2003 TDI

My mechanic in our town did a quick computer check. Car computer indicated a low level of antifreeze, he topped it up, cleared all messages off the car computer and said to watch the the heat guage for any further irregularities. I'll keep an eye on it, love the car, great mileage fun to drive.
