Won't start I recently got a 95' ford probe from a friend of mine. We have done an oil change on it, we've done a tune up on it, checked the compression, the timing belt and everything seems fine except it won't start. I've even tried started fluid and it still won't work.

have you had the oil pressure checked as it could just be a bad oil pressure switch not working properly.

Once you get your Ford to start, does the engine run normally ? If yes, then timing not an issue. If no, you may consider timing, but not until other components have been checked.
Have you done any maintenance to your vehicle like a tune up, air filter / fuel filter change. Have you checked fuel pressure ?
Have you checked for any codes in the engine control module ?

If you have the 2.3L engine, the best thing you can do is change the oil then change the oil. When you are done changing the oil, change it again. If you keep your engine oil clean, that engine is pretty much bullet-proof. I have 220,000 on mine.
The only other thing for the engine is oil leaks. Take care of them right away. They ar not only bad for the engine itself. Oil leaks will destroy sensors and wiring harnesses. Petroleum oils will also damage rubber parts like hoses and bushings. Oil leaks should not be tolerated at all.
Yes, your car requires tune-ups. I usually recommend waiting until the Check Engine Light comes on. With the platinum spark plugs, it is usually not necessary to change them for 80.000 miles or so. The Check Engine light will come on and tell you if the spark plugs start misfiring - that is when you MUST change them to prevent other damage to the vehicle.
The fuel filter in your vehicle is serviced only by replacing the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank. Trust me, it will let you know when it is time. You can go ahead and do this according to mileage if you like, but mine has never been replaced at 220,00 miles. I have changed some at 100,000 miles though.
At your current mileage, I personally recommend a cooling system overhaul. This consists of replacing the water pump and ALL coolant hoses. I would replace heater hoses, by-pass hoses, radiator hoses...EVERYTHING. Also flush the radiator and heater core and replace the thermostat. This can go a long way in preventing severe engine damage due to overheating.

If you have not changed your transmission fluid and filter, then I would recommend doing so.
Then. you just have to take care of problems as they occur. You will most likely lose a wheel bearing, a fuel pump, a CV axle shaft, but this is just normal wear and tear. A thorough inspection every 6 months or so can go a long way in preventing small problems from becoming big problems. I personally check mine over pretty good at every oil change. (3000 miles)

next service (oil change/ tire rotations etc. )of your vehicle is due already or you need some tune ups.

Mine is doing the same exact thing. I recently took it to an oil change place here in town and they put the wrong oil 10W-30 in it and the wrong filter. It needs motorcraft 5W-30 from what I hear. Im taking it to the Ford dealership today. I feel your pain my friend, it's extremley annoying. I will keep you updated if the new oil fixes the problem. Also have you checked the oil sending unit?

you may need to replace the vac hose and check the ignition with a timing light.
It may even help to give it a full tune and service, new plugs, leads, air filter, oil change etc

how much oil is burning and have you checked for leaks. with those miles its bound to burn small oil

Chek oil, and if it seems to thick, put a can of ehgine flush it the oil fill, then run for a minute to five minutes, then drain oil and go with a 20wght oil. If the lifer still knocks or ticks, replace lifter.

GO GET A COMPUTER SCAN.

motor mounts don't have anything to do with this problem. sensors and vacume lines do. You can start checking all your wires, and vacume lines first check to see nothing got crimped chipped, cracked or damaged in any way. If none of these its a sensor.

you no doubt have a direct short in your wiring, or a bare hot wire is touching or rubbing a ground. check all wires that go to your meter. you don't say which meter it is. amp,water,oil,or battery.
