The count down was from the virus i beileve it said somthing to the fact that there was an error and will reboot in 60 sec. after tnat i got the blue screen saying there was an error and that i should scan my cpu for viruses then this long code at the bottom. i can get into boot seq but when i try to boot from cd rom it doesnt recognize the drive i guess cause it restarts again. one thing i noticed is that before this all started when the acer screen loaded it gave option to push f2 or f12 now it just gives f2 the hdd is fine cause i but it in another laptop and it loads which led me to believe the problem is in the bios

Well, viruses- what fun. My advice, download AVG Free 8.0. It is a free virus removal and protection program by Girosoft. This program will get rid of the virus. If the computer begins to shut its self down, then yes, reformatt. But afterwoods, install AVG and keep it gong. You should never have another virus again. And if you do, avg will get rid of it.
Thats just my say.

With the way you are describing this, it is sounding like formatting and reloading may be your only option.

You state that you let it do a countdown (?) and then it starts looping. Is this correct? Can you get to the boot options when it first starts? Or does it just continually loop right from the beginning now?

If this is the case, I would go into the BIOS, set the boot sequence to CD ROM first, HDD second, throw in the restore CD and go from there.
Be warned though, restoring like this will erase everything that is currently on the hard drive,

If there is something in your question I missed, please relist it with any additional information you can provide.

My acer travelmate 4150 when switched on makes a constant screaming noise and does not boot up

Try this: once you turn on your Acer Laptop, immediately it shows the acer logo on your screen, press 'Esc" button constantly or press the "Esc" button continuously immediately you turn on your laptop.

I am telling you to do this out of experience, but if it does not work, let me know.

Take care.

When i turn on my dell notebook it says windows root system 32 ntoskrnl.exe and will not let me do anything

First run a virus scan to see if this problem is caused by a virus on your system. If it scans clean then reboot with the Windows installation cd in the drive. Select the repair option. Once this is done your system should run fine again. Hope this helps.

Check to see if the drivers are loaded for it in the device manager. This device may also need a utilities driver in order to function properly.
