GPS-card possible in SD-slot?

Does anyone have experience with using an gps receiver directly on the sd-slot? Or, in other words, does anyone know for sure the sd-slot on the e330 is really SDIO?

Re: GPS-card possible in SD-slot?

As far as I know there is possibility to use Compact flash but no SD. I also know that you can find a lot of solutions that use USB or Bluetooth connection for GPS.

What is a sd card ?

Secure Digital (SD) is a non-volatile memory card format developed by Matsushita, SanDisk, and Toshiba for use in portable devices. Today it is widely used in digital cameras, handheld computers, PDAs, mobile phones, GPS receivers, and video game consoles. Standard SD card capacities range from 4 MB to 4 GB, and for high capacity SDHC cards from 4 GB to 32 GB as of 2008.

HP ipaq with navtec gps software and sd card fails

Ok, nice job Robert,

I'm posting your solution here to remove it from the unsolved problems list.

Solution by Robert:
This problem was finally resolved as a corrupted map file on the SD memory card in the hp ipaq 5550. Solution was to reformat the memory card using fat32 memory format. I used a SD memory card slot on my laptop and right click the drive letter and select format to format the memory card. After that, I reloaded map files to the memory card and all was OK. Note that previously I had loaded map files on the memory card successfully but that was not good enough. A reformat of the memory card was apparently needed.
I had also previously tried a hard full reset of the ipaq by pressing and holding the lower two buttons (calendar and itask) while holding in the reset button with the stylus for 5 seconds and resynced my contacts and reloaded the gps software, but this was to no avail. Try the re-format.

E570 with GPS and Navi

Personally I have not GPS on my PDA but there is no reason that it should not work properly. The only thing is that you should pay attention on several things. Check by software producer if the software is compatible to your PDA. Please also be careful which ports use GPS hardware because your PDA has no USB port just serial port. With another words check all this important things before you buy anything.

E310 and GPS

Before you buy the GPS for your PDA please be careful if the GPS manufacturer guaranteed the functionality with your PDA. I have e800 and I plan to buy the GPS for my unit. Unfortunately at the moment I have no information which one you should you use. You should have a look at the following document, to see how to setup a BT connection to your BT -GPS device. http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/redirect.php?page=pages/howto.html http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/howto/How_to_use_a_Bluetooth_GPS_Receiver_v002.zip

Sdio GPS

as far as I know the e750 supports the SD-Card I/O standard. You can check your system seettings, go to START - SETTINGS - SYSTEM - SYSTEM INFORMATION - DRIVERS There should be seen the SD/MMC Host driver, the SD/MMC Memory Driver and CF Card driver. Also if the gps card needs a driver, it should be installed also! Perhaps a system reset helps you in the end!
