Question about HP iPAQ H1940 Pocket PC

1 Answer

ROM update I was trying to update ROM from version 1.03 to 1.10 (The latest published in the support website). The iPAQ was connected to the pc via Bluetooth. While updating the ROM, there was an error screen on my pc saying something went wrong with the update, instructing me to perform a hard-reset. I tried to do hard-reset but all i get is an openning scren with HP's logo and "1.07" on top of the screen. The screen never changes, even when i try to hard-reset it again. I also tried taking out the battery and putting it back - but with no luck. I performed a full-backup before the operation, so i have nothing to lose - i just want it to get back to life :( Please, i need your advices. Thanks

Hi there, I think you pressed some more buttons and accidentaly you entered your device into Serial Mode (Bootloader), which you should update your ROM or reinstall your existing ROM in order to exit that state. I am sending you a link to HP website including your device's ROM upgrade download link, and a complete list of instructions. First of all, connect your device with a usb cable to your PC and see the "USB Mode" in the screen of your PDA. Also please be carefull and read the instructions very carefully before starting the process. Here is the link: (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=ip-55697-1〈=en&cc=us&idx=0&mode=4&) Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

I can't install a certain HP update.

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Establish an Activesync connection between your iPAQ Pocket
PC and host PC.
3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions
to install the Real Time Update.
4. Follow the instructions to perform a normal reset on the iPAQ Pocket PC.

on step 3 you should see the setup on your pdas screen do you see this?

Waiting for your reply. :)

IPAQ h5550

I had to install several updates on my H5550 to get the wireless to work. You need firmware 1.10.10 to start with (the latest version), then there are several wireless firmware updates, and a wireless driver you need to install. I can´t remember what these were off the top of my head, but it might help point you in the right direction.

You should try a ROM upgrade. THis problem may have occured if you have a corrupted ROM memory. If for my first choice.. hmm.. It isn't hardware, in my opinion. Try the ROM update first. Save all your important data (no back-up) only save the files to the computer, then have the PDA's battery fully charged, make an active sync connection using USB sync cable (bluetooth, or IR woun't work) and open the ROM update file. For a ROM update, use the oficial HP ROM versions. Here is a link to the wm2003 version. It is the only one that HP distributes free of any charges. Folow the instructions carefully. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=414322&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=430120&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2008 In that list select and download : HP iPAQ h6300 Pocket PC Series ROM Update (English Languages Support Only) Good luck, fell free to ask any other question about this process or others and always remember to rate solutions. :)

You may be in need for a ROM update/reinstall. It is pretty easy to do that. You can either go at HP's web site and download a ROM update for your specific model. Make shure you select your operating sistem rigt. Or you can browse the internet for a specific ROM update for your model. I recomand the HP site, and if you have problems regarding the ROM update process, or the ROM and OS version you need, please reply here and I'll guide you throught. Good luck.

HP IPAQ 5555 1.10.13 ROM UPDATE

I thought my 5555 with 1.10.10 was the latest and most stable?? How come i didnt know about 1.10.13 ROM Update... Anyway, i think it is your Camera Update that causes it. But to confirm, which ROM are you using now? Go to "Start" >> Settings >> "Asset Viewer" >> Under Version >> check the ROM Revision. 1.10.10 had no major problems, only sometimes when i couldnt connect to my wireless router / bluetooth problems, but now it is okay, dun worry.

Connection with my iPAQ 3660

...USB and Serial cradles and cables from... http://www.pdasmart.com/ipaqparts3600.htm http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...1&link_code=as1 http://www.bizrate.com/buy/noncat_p...--37673232.html There are probably other sites, but these are a few from a quick search... Otherwise, yes via IR if the PC your synching with has IR functionality... BT and WiFi also, but you need to establish a partnership via USB/Serial/IR first... Go to this site and download the Reference Manual, etc... http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/f...te/48_1334.html You can get the latest version of ActiveSync from... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...tivesync37.mspx __________________ "When all else fails, read the instructions..."

Outlook 2002 Reinstallation

The default e-mail client on pocketPC 2003 is the "inbox" which is merly a utility for retreiving & sending e-mail. There is no "outlook 2002" on pocket PC's. The Outlook 2002 installation cd comes with most iPaqs and is intended for your pc, not your ipaq.

ROM Version

you should install the ROM v1.10 update, and then install the 8/3/2005 XIP BIOS update recently posted at: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp30501-31000/sp30939.exe Apparently, this BIOS update is supposed to correct the region in ROM v1.10 where the hi-capacity battery read error is found, without incrementing the ROM version. It's explained in the BIOS update "Read Me" file, here: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp30501-31000/sp30939.txt
