Hi - I have a Garmin GPS 2 plus unit which is around 10 years old. I haven't used it for about 2 years. Initally it powered up and eventually found satellites. I switched it on the following day and it will not power up. I have changed batteries but nothing works - tried a master reset but agin nothing - it appears to be dead ?

Did you mean the Forerunner 205?
It is most likely that the battery has died in the unit or there may be a problem with the battery charger.
The internal battery in the Forerunner 205 is not user replaceable and the unit would need to go back to a Garmin repair for replacement.

I will be travelling in Europe without a car and no access to a computer. Is there a plug in adaptor for charging the battery? Can the battery be replaced, as needed?

You can purchase AC international adapters for all nuvi units, here is a link to one http://www.gpscity.ca/garmin-nuvi-zumo-international-ac-adapter.html.. For your battery it will not be able to be replaced by you the user, I only recommend replacing it through an authorized Garmin repair center.

C340 is showing low battery. how do i change the battery?
It has a 12 volt power cable for the internal battery. Do you have the cable - refer to the owners manual (free download via the Garmin site) for more info. The internal battery is not normally replaced.

Have a garmin gps3 that will not power up - batteries checked OK. gps hasn't been used for a couple of years. replaced batteries with new - no go
IF it stil won't pwer up with the dc plug, I suspect the internal battery. Lots of info online on replacement, you can CAREFULLY snip one lead as a a diagnostic test to take it out of the circuit. Good Luck!

Internal Battery Low
Same problem. Remove the 8 screws, unsolder the battery from the circuit board, pry off leads, place electrical tape around edge of new battery, solder on the leads, solder leades on circuit board. Remember which side was up before soldier, close unit, you should be good to go.
