Just bought a brand new Husqvarna 224L Trimmer. Started it up and it runs fine. But the trimmer head will not turn. It just makes a grinding noise. The manual that came with the trimmer is useless. It says to use the spanner wrench that is included but it doesn't fit the nut. The nut fits into a hex hole inside the head itself. Out of the box I can turn the head easily without the motor running. Please tell me that there is an adjustment and not something defective.

Hi, take it back to the dealer as the powered or gear box have not been fitted correctly. The noise you can hear is most likely the clutch drive grinding on the drive shaft. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

How much oil does a husqvarna 224l use

The manual does not call for a specific volume of oil. Make sure to check the level using the dip stick and make sure the oil level is approximately half way up the dip stick. If oil is needed, SAE10W40 is recommended.

Make sure there is not debris stopping the head. Try removing the trimmer head and make sure the shaft turns freely. If it does the problem could be either the engine or clutch.

I have owned my Model 224L Trimmer less than 60 days, last night I tried to use it and the trimmer head would only engage occasionally. It would start to spin then disengage, even when I had all the right...

It sounds like a warranty issue, up at the engine you have a centrifugal clutch bolted to the flywheel, as the engine speeds up the clutch expands and engages with the drum, this in turn rotates ans turns a flexible shaft within the tube, this engages into the gear box and turns the gears that turns the head, so i would say the flexible shaft is either slipping in the drum, or the tube or gearbox has moved out board so is now too short to engage into the drum.
