Car was woring fine. Went out to drive it. Started up, but dash was totally blacked out. There was a red light by the menu buttons that was on, but not blinking. Car drove dine, but not dash lights, no air, no headlights. Drove for 8 inutes. turned car off. Turned key back on and then everything worked. Now engine light is on.

Bad connection in the dash possibly.

you need to know where that push button is under the dash

if you cant find it your self ... ring the place back for instructions

check your battery cables for corrosion clean them and start the engine

Get the fault codes read first to get an indication on where you should start

Change your main relay assembly under the dash on drivers side. I was able to get my small hands under there and change mine out readily--not easy to get to as I didn't want to take the dash apart, but I got it done. If you have other problems after then find you a used TCU unit and change it out (passenger side where they put their feet, pull the carpet up, you will see easy, easily replaceable).

start by getting a code read,it could be cranksensor or a fuel related issue,give me the codes and i will be able to help,the pd engines are very reliable and dont give many problems

Make sure the battery terminals are secure. Other than that I would guess there is an electrcal fault on the vehicle. I am not familiar with the beetle but think if I were driving your vehicle I would make sure all electrical connections were as they should be.

try making sure all belts are tight jode

Here is the proceedure:

Turn the key to ON

Observe the odometer, ensure that it says "ODO", and your total mileage travelled, not "trip A" or "trip B"

Turn the key off.

Press & hold the black tripmeter reset button, hold it until advised to release

Thurn the key to the ON position (do NOT start the car)

Observe the odometer.

You should see 5 dashes, then 4 dashes, then 3 dashes, then 2 dashes, then 1 dash, and then 5 zeros; and then whatever mileage you started with will be redisplayed.

Release the trip meter reset button

Your reset proceedure is complete.
