No picture no Sound with power still on

In the past several months occationally the picture and sound suddenly goes off but the power is still on. If I turn the set off and unplug it and restart the set the picture and sound come back. But today it does not work any more. Any suggestions?

How could it be the power supply board? The power light is on but just without sound and picture. I called Pioneer service people and they will charge $110 for in-home service to find out the problem and then give me an estimate. If it is indeed the power supply board problem any idea how much it will cost me. Worthwhile to get it fix it?

All fuses in the power supply appear to be ok. What is next?

    Thanks

Hi,
This condition is brought about by some section of the set that is consuming too much power. The protection circuit is saving the set from further damage.

Unfortunately, there are several possible causes of this dilema; high voltage failure, deflection systems, audio ampifier or power supplies. A tech must look at it to determine the exact cause.

BTW: A full reset takes at least 4 hours of the power cord being disconnected. That will correct a soft code problem, but if the problem is hardware, it will merely shut down again.

It is well worth getting fixed - and will give you many more years of enjoyment. It will likely cost a few dollars to get it repaired unless you have an extended warranty on it. But, it will be worth it.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks

Your having a malfunction of a solid state chip on the mother board. depending on how old the set is depends if you feel it's worth repairing provided they have the parts. in most instances it's cheaper to replace than repair. i'm sure your hoping for a quick fix but unfortunately in this case you only have 2 options on this one. good luck please rate this solution.. thanks

Its the problem of weak capacitors on the power supply board.the power supply board is perfect ,the components on it are faulty and not letting the circuit to complete.
just replace the capacitors by the proper technician.
this is a common problem.which can be easily solved.
thanks.

TV turns on, hear sound but no picture. Bulb isn't coming on. TV goes off after about 2-3 minutes. Bulb was just replaced 5 months ago.

Need the model number of the set and also if any lights on the TV come on or blink when the picture goes out or not.

I have had this TV for about 39 months. All of a sudden I lost the picture; the sound is fine. When I bought the TV, I was told that it has color tubes (red, green & blue) that will need to be replaced...

The tubes are not the problem. I have a somewhat strange question to ask, since you have sound: after the set is on for a few minutes do you see anything anywhere on the screen?

I am wondering if after it is on for several minutes if you see a faint band of noise from top to bottom towards the right side of the set.

Usually if there is a serious failure the set will shut down and then no sound or picture.

TV goes blank - no sound or picture

Sounds like a bad capacitor or two in the power section. Do you hear a hissing sound also?

Same problem - Picture and sound go off and on.

Yes the sound is lost when picture goes out. Found it was the power supply overheating - I cleaned it (dust caused the overheat) and it has been working for about a month but I anticipate having to replace the power supply soon.

NO PICTURE HAS SOUND

When you say small do you mean shrunk up top and bottom as well as from side to side. You definitely have a deflection problem either horizontal or vertical. If the picture just shrunk top and bottom you have a vertical deflection problem. Do you have the service manual for your model? If not let me know and I will email you one. Describe the shrinking issue a little more and I should be able to give you some guidance.

Sounds like a problem in the deflection circuits either vertical or horizontal. You may also want to check the solder connections in the tuner as they have been known to develop cracks over time. But the prior shrinking tends to say deflection problems. If I can assist you further please let me know.

No Picture Sound OK

Sounds like maybe some bad solder connections in the deflection area, If I remember these monsters correctly they are hard to dissassemble with lots of wires, the culprit is probably a solder crack around the horizontal section or the power supply for the horizontal. Might require a technician for service, if you attempt yourself, use lots of masking tape to label your wires.
