Look in your can of used screws if you have some and get one and keep trying the thread is the same as the one in the saw. It took some looking but I found one that works.
Check the brushes inside the saw. Unplug first ! . some brushes these days have a spring lug which pushes out when the brush is worn down to prevent damage to the comm of the motor. If these are ok and the comm is not burnt check the cable with a multi meter as the cables are known to break on power tools especially in the cable grip inside the saw and in the plug. Failing that it could be the switch. Again check with multi meter and make the switch to see if it makes contact through it. Good luck.
