Question about Computers & Internet

2 Answers

A virus I had wireless internet, and when I moved a "contractor" for my network, uninstalled my antivirus program. As soon as he did this I believe i got a virus. My background says "warning:spyware detected on your computer. Install antivirus or spyware to remove it." It was in a file called antivirusxp08 which I cannot delete. I was told by his supervisor to reset my laptop to factory settings but I have no idea how to. Could maybe you tell me?

First of all if it is antivurus 2008 that in itself is a virus.
to reset to factory is basically to reinstall the software on your machine

this is a quote from a source on the internet about antivirus 2008

We find that XP Antivirus 2008 (Unregistered Version) is badware because it makes deceptive claims of system vulnerabilities in order to induce users to purchase the full version of the software, because it interferes with normal computer use by automatically running a background process which repeatedly prompts the user to take a previously declined action, and because the software cannot be uninstalled using the Windows Add/Remove Programs tool, or without downloading an additional uninstaller.

My computer is very slow n wont connect to some pages

There could be many answers to why your computer is ex: virus, blotware, adware: but there's some easy fixes if its just bloatware by uninstalling all programs but if its a virus that's a little trickier and I couldn't really suggest a way other than to factory reset your computer. As for your Internet you have firewalls setup or you don't have a right plugin etc.
Really just try a couple different things.
Hopefully something will work:3

Freezing upon start up of computer

The best solution for you amanda would be to do a complete re-installation of Windows Operating System. As you can log in via Safe Mode, run the Recovery Manager from there so that your laptop is being set to Default Factory Settings.

Also, if you found it hectic, then here are a few tips to get your system going:

a) From Safe Mode, uninstall your antivirus program.

b) While in safe mode, restore your computer to an earlier restore point where you think the computer was working fine.

c) From Safe Mode, uninstall the programs which runs while you log in the windows

I have internet through Comcast and I bought a Valet to setup a P2P home network but my throughput is sluggish and my connection lags. How do I fix this?

First you need to find out the speed of your connection. If your connection speed is to slow then that could be the reason. If you have good connection speed then i would suggest getting a faster modem/router. As far as your browser crashing could be the connection speed,or you could have downloaded a virus. I would suggest investing in a good internet security/antivirus program such as Norton. hope this helps

I cant uninstall norton antivirus 2008

Norton Anti-Virus 2008 was made to not be uninstalled. It had integrated itself into your system files preventing Windows Installer from removing the anti-virus machine. Symantec has made this tool available to remove the product. However believe me when I say traces of Norton will remain until the hard-drive is reformatted.

Once you remove Norton, I highly recommend you stop using Symantec products and check out ESET's product line of Anti-Virus and online-security tools.

Probable virus / spyware attack

Hello,

You computer is really infected by virus and other spywares and malwares. Please try to reboot in safe mode bt preezing "F8" at first boot. select safemode with network and then enter.

when windows appear go to www.precisesecurity.com/antivirus/online-scan.htm

and then scan your computer online.

However; when the solution won't resolve the from safe mode windows go to start then, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore click

then restore your windows to date where in no virus or in windows working properly date backward.

after restoring , download and install the antivirus..found here: http://free.avg.com/

note: uninstall the current antivirus if there is, two antivirus not advisable.
