I have a 5301. Connected last year, worked fine. Installed new batteries, connects and beeps, but fireplace won't light. All controls are in correct position.

I know it seems obvious, but sometimes over the summer people shut off their pilot light, and when relighting forget to move the pilot knob back to the "on" position after the pilot is going - check this first.
Next, you can slide the switch on the Skytech 5301 receiver from "remote" to "on" and verify that it lights the burner. If it does, you may need to re-sync the remote to the receiver. If it does not, check to make sure your wires are nice and tight on the TH & TP/TH connections of the valve.
If you are still having trouble, Skytech has a toll-free hotline for tech support on the 5301. It is: 1-888-672-8929 8am-5pm EST.

Remote doesn't work

well depending on brand and make there could be lots of resons for this first remote stuffed get new, or it's batteries are low and need replacing as remote signal will get weaker as batteries die, could have lost signal to rewciever box if has one like some gas heaters have wich they have a learn button on reciever box you push this button you need something thin as it is in a thin little hole to get to these buttons once pushed and reciver made some beeping sounds which sometimes when you let go of button after 5 sec's then press the on or mode button on remote it will beep again meaning signal is recieved or the reciever box has flat batteries in it which need changing then usually sometimes once batteries changed you need to learn in anyway if memroy gone from being flat to long, most remotes have their own manual or are in heater manual so if you have read up first to know what your looking at you shouldn't need a mechanic for this but if you unsure then i would contact one to fix most of the time it would probably be easier to contact mechanic i know this may coast you but whats a couple of hundred to be warm through winter also if it's not a portable heater and you can find a service agent get it serviced and mention control they will take care of ti for you and your heater will be more efficient for you through winter it is important to have heaters service i recomend once a year if you want it to work the same every year as it doesn't take long for them to start loosing efficiency usually only a couple months of running will start to clog up and if thier is a fan on heater its important to have them cleaned regulary for air movement i've seen a fan start to block up after a month it's basically like you vacuum sucking up dirt, dust and lint constantly while its running and is always alot worse if you have indoor furry pets

Remote not beeping or lighting stove

Sounds like you may have a similar problem that I have. I found a cable that attaches to the remote receiver melted to one of the gas pipes behind the panel. Poor design, should have been insulated. My heater just beeps, with red light flashing.
I just posted looking for the phone number for the company. Lost my manual, and need to contact them. Can anyone help?

Got a new remote for my viper 791XZ and reprogrammed it .

this usually means that the remote did not recieve a signal back from the module or the module did not recieve the remote signal
have you tried repeatively to press the unlock button? does the remote starter work or aux( trunk ) ?
also when putting the battery in the remote , be easy because there is a connector plug soldered on the board real close to where the battery is , and if it is hit by the battery hard enough it will cause those solder connections to disconnect and you will get the beeps and or other malfunctions

New batteries, remote works for a few, then starts beeping

update your software, then update your firmware to the remote. have it connected without batteries and then when prompted to connect the remote, add your batteries and see if the software will connect and update. Good luck.
